Friday night at the Borgata. Xmas/Deep stacks tourn weekend.

Table is a mix of local regulars (that know the name of the kids and dogs of every floor person etc) and couple of people with no clue.

Villain is good tournament player (we were at the same table 2h before) who just busted out for a min-cash and seemed annoyed. He is also a NYC player who plays in similar private cash games I play in (we have a dealer friend in common) but I have never played against him before. Sat down 5min before on my right.

Standard 3bet - we want to go less than pot IP and more than pot OOP.

3bet or call fine, 3betting more often then not. Sizing $50-$55 given how deep you are

Just don't fold. Mix between $40/$45 and flat call. Favor a raise somewhat because hero should be able to get him to fold some light opens without playing a hand at all.

pre- i'd mix flatting and 3-betting, 65 is fine, 150BB+ deep if you want to 4x IP, 5x OOP its never going to be too bad.

on the flop, I'd bet 40, I think anywhere from 35-50 is fine.

I like a flop bet but it was too big. Now that villain has called us blasting away pre and flop we should check as pot is getting big and it's not clear what we are value targeting at this point because his range should be so narrow on turn.

Nothing that beats us folds. Very little we beat can call. Thus, check.

88-JJ would either bet small or check this river. His big sizing polarizes his range and 65s/4x got there as well (although 4x is very unlikely and 65s is discounted because he won't always raise it preflop).

i am folding here vs. this opponent if he is as competent as you describe. not many missed draws available, and feels like a bit of a leveling element where he knows this is a polarized size, knows that you will know that and can be targeting exactly the type of hand you have here.

maybe this changes if you think he is a bit more steamed than you let on in OP, or if he is capable of merging with like 99 here or something, but based on the read given i am folding.

Flat or fold pre, we definitely want to keep the limper in the hand if we do choose to play. Without any info on villain I would err on the side of caution and fold pre.
