$2/5 Spread limit, max bet $250, everyone is 200b+ deep

Villain : Good player, never limps in PF

(8 handed)
CO V ($1000)
Button Hero ($1000)

Hero is dealt XX

4 folds, V raises to $15, Hero calls, 2 folds
Flop ($30) K76r

V1 bets $20, Hero raises to $270 (max bet)

This seems like it would be a devastating strategy in this unique format. The most V could raise with is to $520 ($270+$250), giving our Hero whopping 3.28-1 odds. (Hero could also make this bet OTT).

Thoughts?

PF hands to discuss:

A. 98
B. AA
C. A7s
D. 66

I don't really understand the premise of your post. Why is making a huge raise a "devastating strategy" just because it puts us in a situation where his 3bets would give us good pot odds?

That raise would be very bad with all 4 of those hands in most scenarios.

There are two principal guidelines when betting (for the life of me I can't remember the third one.)
#1 bet such that a lessor hand can call
#2 bet such that you fold out a hand that beats you

Max raising like you propose eliminates a lot of hands we may be ahead, while keeping in hands that crush us.

As for betting out hands we bet, we could easily accomplish that objective with a smaller bet.

When bluffing your objective is to bet the minimum which accomplishes your goal...

Add all that up and the strategy you propose isn't optimal by any stretch...
