tl;dr - cliffs at bottom

More swap discussion because I know how much everyone has enjoyed the past few days.....

How are swaps handled if a game/match is voided or no actioned? Last night Post-Oak offered to take any of the remaining tennis matches for banked swaps to be used on NCAAB or whatever today or tomorrow. Myself and at least one other took Federer last night. That match ended up being voided because of his opponent retiring(he should've sucked it up for another set and half and taken his beating, imo).

-is his banked swap still good?
-what about in baseball if a swap is given then a bet is voided because of pitcher change?
-what about if a swap is given for a player prop and that prop bet is voided because the player didn't play/start?
-what if a game is cancelled because of weather?

I'm sure there's other situations that cause the initial bet to be voided/cancelled. IMO, having a bet push is a lot different than having it voided altogether. There's also a difference between a banked swap and one that was used on game that's already been played. Obviously in that situation we're not undoing the result of a game already played, or is in progress. Would the person who gave the swap, but ended up not even getting action on his own game, be given a swap of his own to use?

For the record, I'm not trying to angle my way out of the swap I gave at all. I'm perfectly fine honoring that swap as everything was done in good faith. But it's a situation that, in theory, could become a big deal.

Examples(names have been changed to protect the innocent)
Ex 1: Dueces offered 2k worth of banked swaps in exchange for him getting Federer. Fortunatepig books it and plans to use the swaps over the weekend. Federer's match gets voided. Does pig still have 2k in banked swaps to use?

Ex 2: I want 500 on the Dbacks one day when Ray is pitching, and I offer a swap. ALMOND JOY books it and uses the swap on a game that starts an hour earlier. Ray develops a blister before the game and gets scratched, voiding our Dbacks bet, but JOY's game is in the 4th inning. Am I just out that 500 swap, or do I get 500 worth of swaps to use?

If this situation has come up before and has already been addressed, just ignore me. If there's not some kind of thread standard for this situation, there probably should be.

Cliffs: is there a rule in place for handling swaps when the initial game gets voided/cancelled?

Legit LOL

Won't be weighing in on this one as I don't really wager in the sports (MLB/tennis/golf) where bets get voided-I would think that the MLB regs should be the ones figuring this one out and the thread should abide by what they decide.

Even if it's not an "official ruling", your opinions are always welcome and appreciated Billy.

Ex 1 I feel pig should still have his banked swaps. Tennis is a little different since they did start playing, money was at risk, retirement happened so someone got lucky/unlucky and “won”.

Ex 2 since your wager never even started, and fat almond joy or whoevers game did start, his is action and you get = amount of swaps (within reason obv)

Just my opinion

cleanest approach is swaps stand regardless

Swaps always stand, is how we have always done it.

Agree with Steve. Swaps should always stand and if lost be paid if they are within the rules set forth. As someone who booked and posted a swap may not have the chance to see your end was cancelled and get the chance to re book his swap with you or someone else. Also a return swap shall be granted if your original bet was voided or cancelled. Of course both parties could agree to cancel the swap if the first leg was cancelled and the second had yet to start, but needs confirmation imo.

in ex2 i think almond joy should give you action on whatever $500 MLB game you want if yours gets rained out or whatever

I think tennis retirements should be handled the same as any other bet that grades as a "No Action" and not a push.

Regardless of if the bet was chosen as part of a swap or booked by someone else in exchange for a swap, the other side (the side that didn't grade no action) stands. The side that graded no action gets a free swap for that amount in the future.

Free swap sounds fair. Do you agree postoak?

So AP, you get $200 in swaps for whatever you want as our Fed/Chung Over was part of a swap. Prefer inside +/-175

Think tennis retirements should not activate a different swap instead. If the match was played and money was at risk (and your money was on the side you wanted) then in essence you got your swap, just unlucky that tennis has spread rules for retirements.

If a baseball game gets rained out/prop player didn't start then the money was never at risk. Initial swapper should get an equal amount in swaps to use elsewhere- but it'd have to be confirmed by the person who accepted the swap offer. For example: you might book the Blue Jays for a swap because you like that side/are indifferent. But if that gets rained out, the original swapper shouldn't be able to put you on any game he wants now. You wanted to swap for the Blue Jays, you now should only be able to be put on the opposite side of another game you're okay with. If that makes sense..

I was assuming that the swaps would be void and I am perfectly fine with that.

Now as far as a rule, I could see where this could cause confusion where the non-no actioned side went first or went off at same time, etc. So having swaps always stand as the rule is the way to go IMO.

But in this case, I am fine with just cancelling them. I was assuming that was the case anyway.

Also, Chung is now my favorite tennis player. He's smart, no reason to risk his foot over a damn tennis game!
