I think math-wise my raise is still a mistake (though not a huge one) because my 8 blocks a lot of combo draws he could potentially have on the turn, so the number of worse flushes he can have is somewhere between 6 and 10 combos, but likely closer to the former. When I'm losing to 8 hands, ever hand combination counts. And I'm losing $675 to the 3 nut combos he shoves for sure.
Why are you calling a shove?

I wasn't thinking he would fold lower flushes because he didn't raise, I said it because he seemed to put you on a pretty narrow range and he can beat much less of that if he doesn't have the nut flush. But who knows, like I said people don't like to fold flushes and he may just find some other justification if he had weaker flushes (like, maybe he's bluffing...)

I'm posting an update 20 hours afterwards.

Fight the power!

Yeah I mean it is very player specific and (obviously) if he is on continuing with 16 combos (8 that has us beat, 8 that we beat) we should still flat the river.

This is one of those spots that comes up all the time where I do something just snap in game (hurr durr 2nd nut flush I raize!) and the immediately afterwards realize that should have taken more time (my biggest leak right now). The worst part is afterwards I'll think stupid stuff to myself like "great now I need to play 10 hours to make up that lost $500", but then I realize that my ******ed actions are actually built into my existing win rate which makes me feel a little better about being a donkey.

OMG someone understands how I feel.

It would be $275 into $2035 if he shoves.

Would I be good 12% of the time? Maybe not, but I wouldn't be folding.

Lol this post makes me feel so much better about so much stuff I do in NLHE
04-23-2012 , 10:21 AM
I think your good something like 0% if he shoves. Especially if you're thinking he might be just outright folding some of the flushes.

But I probably call too, because the amount I would hate myself for folding getting odds like that is probably too large to justify folding even if I'm losing 99% of the time.

I find it silly that you would post 5/10 brags several times here.

There's not really anywhere else for it this is probably the more appropriate forum for 5/10 than HSNL IMO. Especially for a brag about a "small" 5k win.

I don't ever really post brags (I hardly even play poker these days) but I don't think a relatively regular contributor to the forums has any less reason to be able to post a brag just because he plays bigger.

It would be different if it was some random 25/50 player making his first LLSNL post, but for someone that posts in LLSNL...

jack, you don't have to argue every topic that comes across in the chat thread.
04-23-2012 , 10:44 AM
Those in glass houses..
04-23-2012 , 10:45 AM
You like to argue, I get it.
04-23-2012 , 10:49 AM
Yeah I personally like that MHFR guys post in the forum. Firstly, it is good to have higher stakes people comment on hands because they are "made men" who are beating a more difficult game. Secondly, people often times don't have anybody to talk to about poker IRL.

I mean there really isn't a MHFR general chat thread so I would suggest dealing with it and not being a troll.
04-23-2012 , 10:51 AM
I see too often that players play smaller flushes as bluff catcher in similar spot by check/call, and such behavior may be evident in his previous HH.
04-23-2012 , 10:54 AM
Ok my bad. I guess I'll just put up with his brags.
04-23-2012 , 10:58 AM
Yeah people post when they are running hot and when they are running bad all the time so just let it slide, it isn't a big deal.

The deification of Limon is annoying. I'm sure he's a good player and all, but posting a quote from him that's only tangentially related to what I was saying as a response to a suggestion to improve the PAHWM threads isn't particularly useful.
Don't really agree with what you said here in a few spots in regards to your original post, but w/e, I'm over it.

PAHWM is a tool that uses a specific model and the model should be followed every time (there was one recently that did not follow it, hopefully that won't happen again). In fact, OP wanted to start it in a different spot and I told him if he wanted to do that then make a regular thread. There were some differing opinions on what to do, fwiw.

Yeah it is a little funny how mods are always "running bad" ...

We get paid like $5,000 a month so it's not like we are using our money anyways. Feel like I am free rolling most of the time...
04-23-2012 , 11:32 AM
Lol yeah right. Everybody knows you mod because of your low sense of self esteem!

I played yesterday on my birthday and I got Aces like 5 times, Kings twice Queens 3 times. I won 1100 but should have been 2100 because I lost a 1k pot when a guy hit his flush on the river. We were all in on the turn. aiott.

SeaULater, heres another one of them damn bragging mother ****ers again, polluting your chat thread.

04-23-2012 , 11:54 AM
Had HTJ played your game, he would have probably cashed out 10k, and I would probably kick him in the nuts for bragging about a soft 5/10 game in a 1/2 - 3/5 forum.

I don't care about brags, but I just thought that it's funny that you couldn't find an appropriate place to brag about your 5/10 win and have to come in here...

Although I just noticed that nobody ever responded to any of those brags except what I just did. Sigh, I fed into your ego troll.

Ace, please slap me with a large trout.

happy b day.
its been a week since mine, and i havent played at all. 7 days off.
i can't remember if i'm running bad, or good at this point.
I guess i can look at my records, but why bother.
that would either 1] tilt me, or
2] remind me that it's business as usual.

back to the grind, though.

also, HTJ, it 'should' have been $1990, cuz you had @80% equity in the pot, not 100%.
if you had 100%, you would have dragged it.
