I am ashamed to even say what I was thinking. Its pretty bad. But I feel like I have to get it out.

I knew without a doubt the person in front of me was going to pay with food stamps. I didn't think less of them or anything else. I used WICK when we had our daughter. Its no big deal. It just popped in my head but I was like damn thats racist. They did in fact pay with their food stamp card.

There's not really anything wrong with stereotyping, it's what you do with that information that makes you a bigot or what not.

For example, if I come across a poorly dressed person, it's quite natural for me to stereotype him as a poor person and that by itself is fine. However, if I am a store manager and refuse to service this person because I think he's poor, then there is a problem.

Something I want to get off of my chest...

For those of you with families, take a moment to look over your life insurance situation. Odds are you do not carry enough.

A friend of mine passed away in January very unexpectedly. He made a nice living, but was under insured. After paying off some massive medical bills, what little insurance they did have was pretty much eaten up. His wife is now faced with a tough financial situation and two boys nearing college age.

And no, I do not sell insurance.

20% profit and 2 ribs IMO. BTW food will be there. We all throw in $20 at the beginning of the season to cover it. So come hungry unless you have something certain you want/have to eat.

There's a pretty big difference between racial stereotyping and "stereotyping" of the type you mention, which I wouldn't even really consider sterotyping.

Got 500K on myself, 250 on my wife and 250 on my daughter. Told my wife is she ever collects she needs to engrave on my tombstone: "Bad Beat Jackpot"

Not trying to make light of what your saying. It is important.

I grew up in an economically depressed area. I worked at a grocery store when not in school (summers, vacations, weekends) from 17-22. First of the month was absolutely brutal. The worst was July 1st - 4th of July holiday and welfare time? Dear sweet baby Jesus I worked monster hours those days.

You could look at the sale ad and know what part of the month it was. First of the month? Spam/potted meat, ramen noodles, generic cola, and Little Debbie cakes were always on sale. Same with macaroni & cheese and the cheap store white bread. And Kool Aid.

The local coal miners got paid every two weeks. Some of those cats made serious jack for the area ($1,000/week take home) but they lived like they did growing up - rough. On pay day, I couldn't count the number of cases of Black Label and Schaefer's beer I carried out to their trucks. We weren't supposed to take tips, but a couple of these guys wouldn't hear of letting one of us kids carry out their groceries without a $5 tip (hell, I only made $4.25 an hour!) Loved those guys!

Still felt pretty guilty after I did it. I know I meant no harm, but I couldnt help not feeling bad. Just one of those things.

+1.

I am actually a firm believer that lesser off you are, more insurance you will need.

Good man!
Is that a term or whole life on your daughter?

I have no official dependents, but I carry $600K on myself, plus what I have at work.
I have a brother with special needs (cerebal palsy and sever brain damage, can never live independently) who lives with my mom (my dad passed away in 2004). 1/3 of that policy goes to my mom to help take care of him if something was to happen to her and I wasn't around. Another 1/3 goes to my oldest sister (she would also make sure my brother is taken care of), and the rest gets split up among my nieces and nephews. Any estate I leave behind gets divided the same way.

The joke in the family is I am worth way more dead than alive, so I broke the amounts up so no one person has enough incentive to take me out. I told my mom I don't want her in my hospital room saying "Pull the plug - he wouldn't want to suffer this way." Meanwhile I am there yelling "It's just a broken leg. I'll be fine!"

She tells me I have problems. I tell her she raised me.

You are correct. At some point, *most* people should be able to self insure to some degree, especially as their dependents age.

I am over insured, but I have nit-like tendencies when it comes to my family.

You guys lucky you have jobs. I wish everyday I had a job. I cant even pay for my own benefits. It was free when I had a job, medical insurance is expensive.

We're talking about life insurance, and I sure hope you got one, especially the fact that you have two young kids.

If i cant pay for medical insurance for me and my two kids, what makes you think I have life insurance. One day I would like to have all that stuff. But I have too many worries to be thinking about that right now at this moment.

Hhhmmm...generally term life policies do not have a cash value. Peep your policy sometime and see exactly what you have.

Calipari finally got the job done, Im proud of him all the way back to his Umass days with Marcus Camby.

Iverson was still better.

I think I know what it is but the name is escaping me. I didn't use to be a fan of some of those more creative policies, but after my dad passed away we ended up placing my mom in some products that fit her situation perfectly.

How many years until they vacate the title?

I hate it when they talk about him taking 3 different schools to the Final Four. When the first two trips are vacated, they shouldn't be even discussed.
