you dramatically overestimate the effect of even the best coaching on one's game

I think you dramatically underestimate the difference between being coached by a marginal winner vs being coached by someone who's killing the games

Regardless, honestly, I wouldn't even coach for 800/hr, I was just curious why not everyone was literally jumping at the opportunity

i got 8 hours of coaching from someone who's made over a million dollars at cash games this year and while it helped my game considerably it didn't instaturn me into a huge winner

Unfortunately everything you touch is cursed with bad luck and no amount of coaching from you will counteract the doomswitch that you invoke on their poor souls. Being a mediocre player who runs at 0 ev is better than being a good player who consistently runs hugely below expectation.

people aren't jumping at the opportunity because you aren't as good and revered as you apparently believe yourself to be.

i dunno, just a thought.

i know you're probably unaware, but outside of the full ring poker community, you're still a joke.

Of course I am...in fact, everyone who plays FR is a joke outside the full ring poker community, since, after all, FR players are all bad and huge nits, and I minraise so I'm obv a huge fish. Poker is a huge ego sport if you didn't already know and everyone thinks they're better than everyone else, and if I never posted my graphs here, I'm pretty sure even the full ring community would think I'm a joke.

As for me not being as good as I think I am...I don't think one FR 5/10 player has made even half as much as me in 1 month in any of the past 8 months or so...if you know of anyone lemme know. And I know why I'm not getting offers...because people for the most part are illogical, and would rather take a marginal winner as a coach for 150-200 an hr since it's "cheaper"..when what they fail to realize is that 1 hour of coaching from someone truly good at poker>>>like 6 from a marginal winner. But, whatever, as I said I wouldn't even coach for 800/hr, was just curious.

i'm sure there are people with comparable winrates to you who just don't grind nearly as much or play as many tables. Using the "money won in a month" logic is kinda silly as most of us don't like to play 8 hours a day 7 days a week.

Winrate isn't important though (although I'm positive mine is still the highest)...it's hourly that is, and that's the only thing that matters. And, if you think I play 8 hours a day 7 days a week, you're sorely mistaken..in fact, even during my "grind" period I only played 4-5 hours a day, 6 days a week...now I play like 2-3 hours a day, 6 days a week. There are plenty of people who play far more than I do, but no one does 24 tables because they are slow or w/e.

Nope...in fact, my ego is almost 100% inline, which is why you never see me playing 10/20 or 25/50, since I know where I stand as a pokerplayer. Take almost everyone else, however, who's taken multiple multiple shots, and played in games infested with regulars over and over, and called everyone they don't like "bad at poker"...and you'll see what an "ego" is.

Well said.

nice avatar ranka lol. and poker doesnt involve ego, ive never said one bad thing to a fish aside from "well-played" or "nh" or "wow, youre the best" after getting a bad beat. i think in general im the nicest man alive.
07-19-2008 , 01:54 PM
wait, isnt poker all about the money?
07-19-2008 , 01:59 PM
Im trying FR again, if I run into aces a bunch I will get frustrated again and go back to solely 6m.

That has nothing to do with ego though...no one who's a regular and halfway decent berates the fish ever, at least to my knowledge, because berating the fish, although maybe helping you tilt a little less, is obviously ---EV.

Ego is what you see on these forums...where everyone calls everyone else bad unless they're on friendly terms, in which case that person suddenly becomes "good" at poker. 99% of people have a warped sense of perception..in fact, until I posted my graphs, people thought I was the biggest fish ever, even though back then I was still the biggest winner (to my knowledge, anyway), and how as too easy said, I'm still a "joke" outside the FR forums (as is every other FR player), even though very few of them have probably played a single hand with me.

It sucks that PStars is taken away your douchebaggy ways, eh?

imsa really is the absolute biggest dbag on this entire site.

I only dislike him for 2 reasons:

1) He shortstacks, which is douchebaggery

2) He makes poker players as a whole look bad. The whole nerdy white internet geek who plays cards stereotype pisses me off. So I am generally somewhat hostile towards any extremely geeky kids that fall directly into the stereotype

*Disclaimer: I don't know him, only have heard from every person ever that this is exactly how he is. I have no problems personally vs him obv, just can't stand when people help the stereotype.

Who said I was geeky? I like math and I went to a nerd school but I dont think I come off as geeky IRL.

A lot of people who arent big fans of me, have said I am a normal human being. Aejones said something during one of the leggocasts while EM2 and mynmisgregg were ripping me a new one.

You can think whatever you want I guess.

Ehh, bout everyone who has ever mentioned seeing you in real life mentioned you were a huge geek. I think your mom posts on this site? I mean my mom would have no idea this site exists, etc etc.

I don't really care either way, and I won't make a judgement about it until I see you, and I don't think I've been overly hostile to you since I'm not 100% sure that you are, but I was just stating facts that you do some douchebaggy things and I've heard that you were in fact a douchebaggy geek as well so I was only pointing out what others said, not that I actually genuinely dislike you, but the jury is out son.
