I've done it here and there. I've seen others do it here and there and never seen anyone have an issue with it. I honestly can't think of why it matters if, like WDM said, the nets match and balances are eliminated.

edit: I obv understand trying to avoid it, but doesn't seem like a big deal to me.

Also, if I bet with someone and end up owing them, why should I care if they end up owing me? We bet together, so obviously I should be comfortable owing or being owed by that person. It's not like it's a new balance. I totally disagree with you in the most respectful way of course.
