his initial "want" said "bears". i booked and posted vikings. at time of booking bears vfl spread was -1 +107 and bears ml was -106/-104.

yes spread is the default for football but there are exceptions, which i believe has been the thread standard since 2017:

we need to be clear on this especially with some people betting 1k, 1500 a game. i think it makes sense because if you are doing numbers its easier/faster to grade a ml ev bet than a bet that has a spread and vig

also another thing while we are on the subject but not related to the bears bet, if i book a bet and my post timestamp is :34 and there is a single line move at :34, we use the new line at :34

Jaba and I had the same bet, and same question. We went with the money line as default here as this is closest to vig free.

That’s only in the event that the line is a pk. So we don’t acknowledge 1 point spreads anymore? Somebody should have the option to either lay -1 or do the ML and vice versa.

You do have the option.

You can specify spread in your want or your booking if you only wanted spread. Just posting "Bears" or "Vikings" is assumed to be spread 99.9% of the time, except in the case that the ML is inside 104.5.

Had you been so committed at the time to taking Bears -1 +107 instead of Bears PK, you could have clarified between the time of booking and time of kickoff.

Neither of these were done, so it goes to the thread default which is ML PK.

Maybe that’s what I was thinking of.

I guess I’ll have to go back and look at every game I’ve ever bet in here and prorate my balances because ive never once looked at ML unless it was ML.

Once again the king of angling gets to freeroll another thread member. If Bears won 20-19 I never would have put the balance down and I would have been none the wiser.

Here’s my rule. Unless I put the letters ML next to a bet it’s ALWAYS SPREAD. If I wanted the MONEYLINE, I would have typed out ML.

It’s not angling pal. That’s the thread rule and the way I’ve been grading bets the past 5 years. So far only you and mgb disagree while everyone else thinks it should be EV.

It makes perfect sense. Pk ev is much simpler than -1 +107. Also why have a 3 man committee if people are going to dispute their decision when it goes against them. Committee folks are wasting their time and energy reviewing this stuff if we’re just going to dispute what they say.

Discussion should always be encouraged.

Why have spreads at all if we are just going to pick and choose. You know 1000% that if the Bears won 20-19, you were going to revert to the spread because it fit your argument.


The game everyone is referring to is the one instance where the game was a PK but the spread had Vig and the ML didn’t. The spread wasn’t 1 in that case.
