the first debt situation i handled was dunlap in march. guy owed luckybacon $1392 and had not paid him a cent in 3 months. the thread did nothing to help him out, except to talk trash about dunlap and criticize him in the thread. yeah that really helped! lol. i was chatting back and forth with dunlap over 3 weeks being all soft and nice. in the end he made 2 paypal payments to me and a transfer on america's card room to pay luckybacon. if i berated him do you think luckybacon would have gotten paid?
the last debt situation i handled was bluff in february. after superbowl sunday he owed $8500 to thread. 5 months later that figure will be down to $1700 (after $300 payment to luckbacon this friday). he was always in constant communication with me, even if he was a day late with a payment.
compare that to CCX. 5 years ago the guy collected funds just like i did except he just ran off with the money lol
Personally I am not going to criticize anyone for working for the good of the thread, so the fact you did that is an overall positive. I think all situations and people are different though and certain people are going to respond better to fear than a sense of friendship.
I am not going to get into how I got Jcohen to pay the thread but it sure as hell was not being nice to him. And that is a situation where the vast majority of people had given up on getting paid and everyone got paid 7-8k in 2 months.
It isn't ok to freeroll the thread. It is stealing and slowpaying the thread after doing it is also stealing. There is literally zero reason these people don't pay faster with the exception of the fact that people let them get away with it and it is essentially a zero interest loan. I have said this many times before but my general way of handling this is to give the person in question a few days to get a solid and acceptable plan on how to rectify the situation. If that doesn't happen then it is time for the nuclear option.
You post about being the reason why Dunlap paid bacon. I respectfully disagree. I nuked him in NVG posting that he was a deadbeat who didn't pay his debts for months and within a couple days I had unsolicited PMs from Chris and luckybacon was paid. Just being nice and reminding him he owed didn't work, contrary to what you say. I would be more than happy to post the PMs or PM them to whoever if need be (assuming I haven't deleted them by now).
In this situation we have a guy almost certainly lying about the circumstances surrounding not being able to pay. He also is a large net winner within the last month. Add that up you have a bad situation he needs to fix asap. It has already been posted what would be an acceptable way to handle the situation and there is zero reason why he can't do that. If he chooses not to then he shouldn't get any sympathy from us.
