Yep same problem here, doubt there is a fix for it, just another iPoker bug!

Player notes are stored on the server for the iPoker client, so you cannot copy your notes if your moving skins. The bright side of this is that if you jump around computers a lot then your notes are already there, but that's the only upside!

When I started out it was fun knowing that there is no ceiling (there was within myself and my own limitations skill wise or whatever) but to see people playing 10knl+ was an aspiration, now you can dream to be....a msnl grinder with no room for growth which could all be taken away from you at any point by greedy sites who only care about the rake machine and have no interest in poker. If you want to watch high stakes games to get inspired then it's relatively simple just to log into stars and watch the games.

I think midstakes games are unsegregated.

Hi,

I've recently started playing on Ladbrokes, it's the only ipoker skin I'm allowed to play on in Belgium. I'm playing midstakes and am pretty shocked by the lack of action. Is it normal that most of the time there are only 6 tables midstakes? I read something about tiers but this thread is pretty long to browse through. Can anyone explain me the precise effects?

regards

speaking of exit plans, if you haven't got one by now your either a poker genius and so very confident of your place in today's games, or your delusional and destined for a hard landing imho

I suspect the vast majority fall into the latter band

This.

Sadly I dont think its even necessarily even down to your own skill whether you have a sustainable income from poker anymore, its actually down to the higher powers who dont give a **** about you or your living, like the sites and the governments #greed

But yeh, if you can see the sky falling, which it is, have an exit plan ffs.

Nice mate, that is probably what I will do if nothing else comes up. The way I see it that is my "back up plan" although I've not started on it yet. I've been sensible enough with my money and been playing full time for 5-6 years. I think there is still a few years left for me.

Did you quit because it got too difficult or because you stopped enjoying it? Or really into the property stuff?

Have you been cash buying everything Clark? Tough for UK poker players to get mortgages, easier for buy to let but need a homeowner mortgage first to qualify for a BTL in most cases so its a catch 22 there.

Think all of us probably have dreams of doing something similar as an exit, mind sharing more info on what you've bought, how you've done it and some expected yield numbers?

No worries if you consider this personal/sensitive info and would rather not share

i have 3 terraced houses in blackpool and 3 flats in cleveleys area, and enough for 1 or 2 more, bought them all at auction over last 18 months for cash. realising that my poker career was on borrowed time I wanted to start building a steady alternative income (buying at auction is a right buzz btw plus I got some nice prices )

your right chirpy Poker players can't get mortgages which is a bummer because I've got a taste for it now . mortgage laws have changed and you can only borrow in relation to your "taxable income" so I'm hoping to gear up after I've got a full years accounts submitted

fwiw I paid between 46k and 68k for the houses and 144k for the flats. My plan has been targeting high rental yield exclusively. after renovations the houses are returning 9.5% -10% gross return and the flats 12.9%. my total gross income is now £731pw and when it hit that amount a couple of weeks ago I quit pokers as thats enough for me to live reasonably well on.

the biggest surprise was that finding tenants has been the easiest part, I read there was a housing shortage and certainly seems true , in my area anyways .

had a few problems with tradesmen doing them up tbh and I've made some mistakes but all in all have really enjoyed it

fwiw I'm finding it a little strange having having no poker bankroll for the first time since 1999

This is the weirdest part for me too, but I'm still dabbling.

Your property plan sounds good from an income perspective, but what is the capital growth like in Blackpool though? I know its like comparing apples/oranges but had you bought in Central London you could make ~25% capital growth (if you bought in the right areas) in a year or 2, live in it for 1yr and pay no capital gains tax or let it ride and let it out get income/pay mortgage and wait it out for value to rise - which it would here.

I'm bias as I'm a Londoner but if and when the property bubble bursts, London will stay relatively safe whilst the rest of the UK will get pummeled. London is in its own bubble/economy so I would highly suggest you diversify and try to get in London at some point soon.

Not trying to nit pick you have a great plan just offering some advice thats been passed on to me from people heavily in the London property game.
