its even more funny to imagine someone studying dino's play because they think hes GM, trying out the style and failing miserably at life

I was looking through pt tonight to learn a bit about the regs and I found a guy who has played 4 out of 172 hands when sitting in one of the first three seats.
10-23-2008 , 12:19 AM
i was just playing and had a guy in the sb who had played 87 hands with a VPIP of 0 and obv a PFR of 0.

I open in mp with KK. He has a half stack and 3bets. Obv he has AA. Only hand he plays in 88 hands. Awesome.
10-23-2008 , 01:46 AM

I know it's only over 87 hands, but really, what can you beat after he 3bets? I could see how you could be ahead if he just calls tho.

This is my second full month @ FR, and I'm still learning the ropes. I had this 20K hand breakeven stretch earlier in the month which was just brutal. But I'm having a decent month. I've cut down the number of spews per session and I'm still putzing around with a few things preflop and postflop, but I'm getting there.

And you, Sparky? I have you marked as a "good reg", but I don't think I've played with you much.

Btw, if someone plays NO hands in 87, I'm just going to give him credit for the nuts when he 3 bets. Not a level. He just played 9 orbits, or spent 13.5BBs to fold all those hands. What do I care if I piss back 3BBs? Sure it could just be sample size, but it's really a coinflip at best imo. You would have to think his range is QQ+, AK+ to want to get it in pf - not sure it's that wide. And even if you did want to get it in, your 4 bet is going to drive out the hands you want calls from, so the only way you can get the matchup you want (vs AK or QQ or worse), this guy has to have a MUCH wider 3 bet range, PLUS he has to have a wide 4 bet calling range. And he has shown no inclination to put any money in with just "good" hands. I suppose you can just call and hope an A doesn't come out, but if he starts betting I'd be forced to call him down - not sure if that would make me happy. He only has half a stack, so you're not getting the odds to hit a K. I'm more than happy to coinflip with the shortstacking regs (even as a slight dog), but this guy deserves no action. He's just taking up space. I probably just jack up my steals and get it back one BB at a time. :-). And this is coming from a person who folds only 50% of the time to a 3bet. So it's not like I don't like playing in 3+bet pots.

^^
87 hands is a lot. I'm the spewiest player of all time and I can't imagine a hand he 3 bets that isn't AA.
10-23-2008 , 02:06 PM
lol so you guys fold for a half stack with KK? awesome.

0 vpip and 0 pfr for 90 hands, then you open and he 3 bets. You find another player with these stats and we can bet 5k a hand every time he reraises (and there are 2 kings dead). I get AA, you get everything else. gogogogogo
10-23-2008 , 03:06 PM
Just to put my comments in perspective, I played a 3 bet pot w KK yesterday and called 2 bets AFTER and A hit the flop. So I like getting it in there as much as the next guy (who is not psycho). But at that point, you have 3 BB invested, and you're asking yourself if you want to play for another 47 against someone who hasn't played a hand! What range are you putting him on? It's not even a metagame issue. If you are a halfway decent player, you'll find better spots to get your money in.
10-23-2008 , 03:27 PM
metagame? wtf are you talking about?

its $200 lol. i mean his range should be wider than AA. even if it isnt i still have $80 in equity lol.
10-23-2008 , 06:55 PM
I just explained 2 posts ago that his range needed to be QQ+, AK for you to be ahead (so we are not assuming his range is only AA), but since he 3 bet, you can't get it in with that range. For you to 4 bet/shove, his range could be wider than QQ+, AK, but it would still be -ev for you to shove because he won't call with his worse hands. Theoretically, if he has KK+, AK, then you are still behind. I'm not saying he couldn't have TT and would spaz-call a shove. I just think it's not worth giving him the action.

Sparky, I just noticed you were #11 on my list of people who've made money off of me. Only $10 more to break the Top 10. :-)

Oddly Zekulya is #1. I don't think he's particulary good, but damn, he's owned me.
