There are two types of players that don't really want the random public to know about their poker results: those that win a lot and those that lose a lot. Guess which group will have more members who quit poker as a result of that information being public?

The first time I changed my sn on Party was after I'd moved up to the new 5/10 games and then they got a lot less soft and I was embarrassed about losing and having to move down.

The 4 biggest losing accounts on FTP are all Guy Lalalalaliberterte (sp?).

Unfortunately, in a lot of fields, there's a tradeoff between publicly successful and having your privacy, whether you're an actor, athlete or even great poker player. Sure, you can open accounts at multiple sites with multiple names, and no one would know how much you made. Or would you rather be the next Phil Ivey, durrr, etc and have every poker noob admire you and look up your winnings? It's just personal preference. I know no one likes TR, but it's just a sad fact of playing a game where the data is freely available. Money is just how we keep score in poker.

If you make enough to fear for your safety, then I think you need to make a change, whether it be sns, poker site or residence. If you make $1mm and live in a ghetto, go live where other millionaires live. Then you have less to worry about.

I really dont want losing players getting even more embarassed at the tables on top of how the games are already, when are we gonna get some good news ffs.

I did very big mistake 2 years ago. I connect name "ranka666" with my real person - I made a blog, launched forum couple of months ago and also this year I am candidate of poker player of 2008 in Estonia. So almost any poker player knows my screen-name here and obv realname ;(

Our poker community is quite small but still most are bad players and playing poker for $$$ and they dont know how valuable knowledges are. They are not like average 2p2-ers who see profits as buy-ins, they see profits like $$$. They see - OMG YOU WON $100, it like 1200 estonian kroons! OMG!!!

Also, currently they don't know exact amounts what I am making. But now thanks to TR, soon they know. And if they see: "OMG HE MADE 50k$" then it's biig problem. Because it's huge amount money here and some people are ready to rob/cheat/kill whatever to take this money. And in so small country it's not hard to fine someone because almost all know each other

EDIT: So the solution is:
a) change screen-name (quite unreal)
b) change country
c) change poker-site

I thought I was old school keeping cash around, hate not having it, all my friends NEVER have it and it's quite annoying honestly
12-22-2008 , 01:42 AM
Yeah from my days of live poker I kind of got used to having a bunch of cash on me, kind of feel weird w/o money on me now. fwiw Vinny is 1000000% spot on about how annoying it is that friends never have money on them.
12-22-2008 , 02:40 AM

o, if just like always goin out, def have at leas 60 or so never know. cash is usefull
12-22-2008 , 04:30 AM
you gotta have your getaway stash of a least a few grizzy locked up in the room

its weird, but i rarely have less than 100 dollars on me, but i try to never use cash unless i have to
12-22-2008 , 05:33 AM
There are tooo many good home games in my neck of the woods to not have cash on hand at all times. I find a rubberband to be very effective imo

i just hate paying 75c everytime I use Interac, and some things look really douchey using a Visa for, especially stores with lineups. Brick of 20s for the win.
