I'm kind of surprised people don't ask people they "know" from the regs threads before they go into the marketplace. I'm closer to being a seller of FT than a buyer, but I'd be shocked if no one wanted to buy at 50 cents or whatever. Like Zach tried to sell some MTT package unsuccessfully in the marketplace and then sold out almost immediately in the regs thread (may have reduced the rate too - can't remember). But anyway, your odds of getting something done are much better with people who know you than randoms.

Easy to carry a huge amount of wealth in gold on your person. One problem is there would likely be travel restrictions, in these extreme scenarios. Also, gold is considered a cash equivalent, and if you travel through an airport with over 10k worth of metal you are supposed to declare it.

As for guns, it seems like it's an American perspective to say get a gun. It most other places it's a much bigger deal. In Europe a crazy gun story to them is: "I used to own a gun"

i guess gun-"lovers" have yet to provide any apocalyptic scenario where a gun might save one's butt - because by definition it couldn't fit the apocalyptic criteria.
and as far as close-to-but-non apocalyptic scenarios goes, why bother chosing between a gun and gold when it's more more than likely you'll want to have both.
- aswell as a piece of land to grow your own food, quite surprising no one mentioned it ?

In theory you could travel with 199 Gold eagles (1oz a piece) without declaring since their face value is $50. I mean it says $50 on them pretty darn clear and they are minted by the US mint.
