Need to get the toys for kids thread up asap if we are gonna do it again this year, Jim if you need someone to help facilitate bank wires etc I'll do what ever I can to help
11-27-2011 , 11:21 PM
ok let's talk logistics...

how are people going to get cash to me? merge transfers? sending checks? I can accept some transfers on sites, but right now it's a bit of a hassle for me to get cash off of poker sites. I can get it done, but it's not like it was last year.

maybe we should just start a thread and encourage people to donate themselves and post their results. it might even encourage more donations considering how much fun we had doing the shopping spree last year.
11-27-2011 , 11:23 PM
yeah or just make it paypal only or something.
11-27-2011 , 11:46 PM
2 problems with paypal.

1) they eat about 5% off of every transfer. it's pretty ridiculous.
2) I think they'll probably lock my account if I start receiving a bunch of transfers from randoms with no explanation.

they don't take that cut if people do it as personal transfers... and i think it'd be pretty easy to explain you are running a charitable donation page through them.

I've gotten a few personal transfers in the last few weeks and they've taken that cut. maybe I need to do something to my account to get them to stop.

I like this idea.
11-28-2011 , 12:40 AM
If you send as a gift they shouldn't take a cut.
11-28-2011 , 12:49 AM
Yeah I quite like the idea of a trip report thread where everyone posts pictures of the coolest toys they bought
11-28-2011 , 12:52 AM
whatever we are doing it needs to happen in the next day or two or its gonna fail hard, from memory a lot of toy drives stop accepting gifts pretty early on in December so they have time to get them to where they need to be.
11-28-2011 , 01:23 AM
I think we just restart the thread. I'm going to get toys myself and take them to the drop off and post pictures. But I don't want to start dealing with transfers like last year as I think it just might be too difficult for me this year. Sparky if you and mab want to take transfers for your respective countries/regions that's totally cool and I'll encourage it. And by the same measure if someone asks if they can donate to my effort I'll certainly find a way for them to do it.

I just don't think I can be a point man this year. I feel really bad about it, but I still plan on buying several hundred dollars worth of toys and donating.

hmmm.... the secret santa thing was kinda fun too...
hopefully Dfly get this rolling again

I am planning on doing something smaller anyway regardless of what happens, but I can take transfers on stars (mab812) from those who want to donate to the cause.

The big toy collection drive is on December 9th, so that's when I'll be going out.

When I was in Peru I introduced 2p2er AggressiveDog to this girl. Adog
says he didn't like her face. And she said that Adog was "too nerdy" for her. So instead the whole time she was drooling over
Nacho Barbero. But I hate that fack so much that I didn't introduce him.

And no, she is not a working girl. Well she does go completely crazy for designer jeans since they cost more than her monthly salary. I hate her personality so it never worked out. Someone might have to step up, my single days are over, getting old.

That's not even the best part of her body, she has perfect 10 breasts. But apparently not good looking enough in the face for aggressive dog. Geez, these Peruvians have high standards.

p.s When are we getting paid, so facking tilting.

did you go to machu picchu? If I wanted to go to S. America for the first time where should I start? Say like a 10 day trip.

I can't believe my picture was deleted. Really weak, it wasn't even naked. Stupid image shack.

Peru and Ecuador is a good start. Macho Picchu and Galapagos. Maybe down to Chile to wine country or something. I love Chilean and Argentinian wine, I can't imagine finding a better $5 wine (LOL).

If you like seafood, Peru has really good food and there is other stuff to do in Peru. I once met this American girl in Peru who was going to Colombia from there and she tried to convince me that there is a lot of stuff to visit and do in Colombia. Maybe I am ignorant but the times I went to Colombia I was ready to dash out of there the next day.

You should come down for the LAPT championship. I think its going to be 5K event, Stars was going to announce the location on Dec 5th. Not sure where its going to be at, but I am hoping South America and not Central America.

I called paypal, they put a note on my account and it sounds like we'll be fine with increased volume of transfers.

Zach is also right, there is a way to send money without the juice.

as Tolkien said... The Fellowship is broken.

Thanks DOJ.

I would, but there wasn't great follow-up last year. Of course, just Song's penis pump was well worth all the effort. :-)

So after my last post, a former NEIGHBOR(!!!) emails me and says he wants me to stake him. Worlds colliding!!! Anyway, since he had no online experience, I nicely told him "no". Then I proceeded to look for a "good" book on online poker to recommend to him, and none was to be found. Is the Harrington book really the only decent book that talks about HUDs? I told him to read that. I thought Skelm was writing a book that was supposed to be out a year ago?

Anyway, I haven't bought a NLHE book in a year or two, and I can't get myself to shell out more money on something I will most likely get no use out of. So does anyone out there want to do some kind of book swap? I also wouldn't mind reading the Poker Blueprint or either of Leatherass's books. I don't think I'll get anything out of it, but in case any of my poker noob friends come asking, I want to see what I am recommending. I have most of the "classics" (over 50 books), so send me a PM/email, or just post here.

Books suck point him towards cardrunners or bluefire or something i'm sure some training sites have very basic intro to online poker vids, or detailed vids on HUDs etc

yep. Books are ok if you've never played poker before.
