Im sure it can be done for PT3 as well, I did mine for HEM and it wasnt that tough to setup, just follow some basic instructions and buy a decent size portable USB power HD. These are the instructions for HEM:

If your set on using PT3 you should probably PM kraada, he works for PT3 and would be the person that could at least point you in the direction. He post quite often in the PokerTracker sponsored forum here on 2+2

if you're going to spend any money on drives to improve your PT3 speed, just get an SSD. added bonus is it's not complicated.

I'm assuming you're talking about an SSD to add to a desktop? I'm using my laptop for poker right now and I'm guessing that I can't add an SSD to that. But I am thinking about getting a new desktop setup and a couple of 30 inches so I can play over multiple sites while 20 tabling.

ssd drives are the same size as laptop drives, 2.5"

1) SSD uses the same connectors as your existing HD, so any external enclosure type device that would work on a normal HD will work for an SSD

2) your current laptop drive probably pops out if you take out one tiny screw, so replacing it and doing a fresh install is easy. If you wanted to copy your old data over, its a bit harder. You could copy data files to a USB key or network share. If you wanted to clone the whole OS, they have programs for that too (Acronis/Ghost), but you would need both drives hooked up at the same time, would probably require a SATA->USB connector.

3) best drive currently is intel imo but it'll change really quickly, and the difference between the best and average is not that big. but, the difference between a normal HD and SSD is huge.
