can you get an external SSD that I could run my PT3 DB off of?
is it possible to install a new SSD into my current laptop? Is there an easy way to transfer the data on my current HD onto a new SSD and then install it?
what is the best SSD to get for a new desktop?
1) SSD uses the same connectors as your existing HD, so any external enclosure type device that would work on a normal HD will work for an SSD
2) your current laptop drive probably pops out if you take out one tiny screw, so replacing it and doing a fresh install is easy. If you wanted to copy your old data over, its a bit harder. You could copy data files to a USB key or network share. If you wanted to clone the whole OS, they have programs for that too (Acronis/Ghost), but you would need both drives hooked up at the same time, would probably require a SATA->USB connector.
3) best drive currently is intel imo but it'll change really quickly, and the difference between the best and average is not that big. but, the difference between a normal HD and SSD is huge.
