Offered to be staked in Vegas for weekend, need advice Offered to be staked in Vegas for weekend, need advice

I was offered to be staked ~$5K for 2/5NL and 5/10NL for the weekend in vegas. What %% should I ask for? He is just the money, he knows poker but sucks at it. Would it be better to just play under my own roll?

A little about me so you know my skill level. Currently I am 4-tabling 100NL Zoom profitably prerakeback full time. ~100Khands/month

Thanks for the help.

Just fire one 5k bullet at 10-20 at the B and take 1/3 of any wins and 0 of any losses with zero makeup. That's a sweet deal for you and not the end of the world for him.

Give your stake 50% easy.

A weekend means nothing and you'll probably lose now that you asking.

Great deal. Routing against you.

Yeah, well make-up deals r messy and most horses on free rolls play like *******s after they get stuck a couple buyins. So fire 1 250 bb shot somewhere imo.

Don't have any staking experience, but as a reg in the Bellagio 10/20 game, I think this is a bad idea. Game often plays fairly deep with plenty of straddles. Might be feasible if there's a bigger game running (25/50) and other short stackers in 10/20, in which case you could get two bullets out of the 5K.

Why don't you have your own money to play at least 2/5 if you beat 100NL Zoom?

And you should comfortably beat the 5/10 anywhere in Vegas based on your skills.. esp. if it's fullring Zoom you're great at.

The key to winning at live poker is table selecting and bum hunting. Table change, and if your table isn't absurdly fishy table change again.

If you want to maximize the average winning for you and your friend, then play 2/5 and table select/bumhunt relentlessly. The best bumhunters, not the best players win the most money playing live. Have a drink, enjoy your weekend and you should have a pretty huge skill edge.

If you are a really solid .5/1 zoom player you could easily have a bigger edge at 5/T, but the way the makeup agreement is structured this would benefit you at the cost of your friend, which is pretty scummy. That is assuming the % you get is the same for each deal. If you're doing this deal at 5/T probably like 20% is fair? Maybe higher at 2/5 ?

If there are some serious math nerds out there I think there is a chapter on this in MOP. You could create fair model based on that. I think? Maybe?

If you want to be really machiavellian and **** I'd just ask him what % he thinks is fair, agree and choose which game to play with respect to how generous his % is.

Edit: Massively more profitable to play 2/5 on your own roll. I doubt you'll brick more than 3k in 2 days even if you run like utter dog****.

the thing is this: if your gonna be staked lets say, 50% at any given level, it makes a lot more sense to just play at the stake below with 100% of your own money. There's no real reason to get staked in a cash game at all, unless your attempting to stake yourself because the minimum buy in is too high (like you stake yourself 50% of 1-2 cuz you cant afford to lose $200 in one hand, for example). The only other reason is because you think that for some reason the higher stake game is fishier than the lower stakes game, which is almost never the case in cash games. For that reason, if you do decide to give your friend a % of your action (like 50% of your wins and losses for 50% of buy in cost), make sure you understand that it is a suboptimal thing to do hourly-rate wise, and consider it a favor.

If, on the other hand, this is the type of situation where you want to milk your DUMBASS quote unquote "friend" for all hes got, do what everyone else said have him stake you 100% for a 85% return on winnings and then 4-bet jam 78suited at the 10/20 for 250BB and see what happens.

Agreed with DGAF just shot take B T/20 or the big 5T games (make sure staker understands that it's all variance over a weekend and busto chance is very high) and play 2/5 on your own roll

The "standard" way poker players deal with whale "friends" staking them is to dump the money to a real friend while splitting the profits. But watch out because whoever you dumped the money to is likely also a scumbag and might screw you.

Play 5/10 buy in for 1k I think 1/3rd is pretty reasonable maybe ask for 40/60 or even 50/50
