2/5, 9 handed, $1000 max buy.

With my newly grown agro cojones or you might think of them as frijoles when we get to the turn, I never limp, always folding or entering pre with a raise. UTG folds. I'm UTG+1 and make it $15 with 34hh. It's the first hand V has seen me play. I'm 60s white guy. I'm experimenting with LAG play today. I've killed it 6 times in a row at 1/2 by being LAG. This is only my second session at 2/5 doing the LAG experiment. Everyone first assumes my grey beard means I'm OMC. $1900+

V $700, 50ish white guy in CO, new to table, never seen him before and this is my reg room. He's seen a half dozen hands and folded all pre, except for one where he limp/folded the flop. He raises to $40 and I almost fold, but decide to see what happens thinking at least my hand is outside of whatever range he might have me on. Two handed to the flop.

Flop ($85) = Qh8c2h I check and V bets $40, surprisingly low for this game. I consider trying to buy it now with a semibluff but I 'm genuinely confused by his bet. Is it a weak CB or a strong beg for a call? And before you say it, a <50% PSB is a surprisingly small bet in this game. His range? I'm not sure but I'm going to default to it being fairly strong and that he is more OMC than not. Could be AQ, KK, AA, maybe 88 but I don't think he would have popped my pre bet with 88.

It took me a short tank to decide a call was best and I thought my reluctance to call better hid my FD.

Turn ($165) = 6h - I've got the micro flush with a gutter SFD. First to act. Do I bet here? Against a player that had seen me bluff and be very active, I would bet it in a heartbeat. If he thinks I'm OMC, he's going to fold. OTOH, another heart will at best kill the action and maybe take the pot from me. check? bet? maybe c/r?

I prefer to donk lead with my low flushes, and check raise with my nut flushes (and most of my Nut Flush Draws). For several reasons

1- There really aren’t many hands he can call a big check-raise with that we are beating—just sets and some Ah holdings. And it’s hard to get any value from those on the River.

2. Some hands that call a check-raise WILL be beating us, so we have RIO. Not just times when he traps with the nuts, but he could have turned non-nut flushes that still beat you.

3. We *probably* have the best hand, so we need to think about maximizing value. And leading with our small flushes is better than c/r because Villain should check back a dynamic Turn card like this with most of his value range—he’s not gonna want to keep betting with black KQ, he’ll be doing a lot of checking for pot control. So you’ll be left with a much smaller pot.

4. Another reason to only c/r with the Nut Flush is that we don’t need any protection—there are no River cards that hurt our hand (whereas with the 4-high flush, any River Heart kills us.)

So I’m donk leading for 80% pot, and just calling if he raises.

I like a donk for $60-75. It will be called most of the time and allows you to take the betting lead on the river where you can fire for $225 to$400 if the board does not pair or produce a fourth heart.

Occasionally he will raise you with worse hand with that 40% sized bet. Very occasionally you will be raised by the nuts..

Most tight players check back the turn with an overpair when the flush comes in on the turn.

Davo and Larry, you're both right. I should have bet and he would have called and he probably would have called another river bet as well.

I checked turn, but $120 on the river. He called without much thought and when he saw my flush, he said, "There's no way you can have a flush as he slammed his cards down on the table. They landed face down but not before I saw that he had a set of Qs.
