Villain CO (covers): 30s white guy wearing a poker themed shirt and headphones. Appears to be running well. Too much LAG preflop, but doesn't seem overly aggressive post-flop. I don't recall any showdowns prior to this hand that would indicate any post-flop leaks and he doesn't have any suspiciously out of whack post-flop frequencies.

Hero BB (~$1000): 20s white guy. I've had to top up $300 out of my pocket, but I don't remember how I lost it. I should appear TAG as almost all of my VPIPs are raises and I haven't really done anything way out of line.

Pre-flop:
Villain opens $20 from CO, Hero 3-bets to $80 with AK, villain calls $60

Flop ($155):
T92
Hero checks, villain checks back.

Turn ($155):
7
Hero bets $115, villain calls $115

River ($385):
Q
Hero bets $150, villain raises to $375, Hero?

I would like thoughts on all streets. I'll post my own thoughts later to avoid biasing responses.

I’d bet $90 OTF. We have a big spade (blocker) and 2 overs. Also have FE vs. hands like 88/77/66.

Turn – Prefer to C/C most sizing and not bloat oop. Since we checked flop, a hand like 88 is not folding now. With the As I would double barrel.

River – getting 4-1 to call is tempting, but given that he checked back flop, tough to put him on a JsXx flush. Sizing also begs a call. Somewhat torn on B/F vs. C/C, but I think B/F probably better vs. the described opponent.

Bet the flop. As played, I'm OK with the turn bet, but I would have gone smaller. River is a little gross. Vs. described V, fold is probably best, especially with the Q out there.

Not sure I agree with betting the flop. This board smashes a 3bet calling range, does it not? He won't be folding QJ/KJ/KQ/Axss. If we're worried about folding out PP, we can do so on the turn.

AK in 3bet pots OOP when we whiff is always a tricky spot for me, but my understanding thus far has been that this would be a poor board to cbet.

Prefer bet flop with a spade. As played prefer check turn.

You say he doesn’t seem too aggressive post, so I think we can fold river. He can definitely have As here (and so can we). Without reads that he can bluff in a spot like this, I feel it’s a close fold.

Do u think these are part of his 3b calling range? If so, we should be 3b more frequently.

Check turn or bet like 250. But mostly check.

Check river.

I would have sizes down or checked turn and then probably check/called river. Don’t feel great here. AP that river bet looks super valuey.

C/c river vs a LAG.

I think hand was played fine preflop, flop and turn.

On the river, I would prefer a bet of 190 into 385:

- to target crying calls from 8sX, JsX;
- because this sizing is less likely to induce a bluff raise; and
- it looks bluffy and may cause the table to look us up light later

As played, I think I might call the raise getting great odds. Obviously we're usually beat but we might have induced a raise with our river bet sizing, it looks like he 'came to play' and if he had A he would have at least thought of raising the turn.
