Whats good poker peoples?

I am newly back to grinding after 3 years off. I play only at Seven Mile Casino in San Diego while in town. The $2/3 game for the most part is very slow and not much action preflop in the sense of 3b or 4b unless they have the goods. Just boring limpers who call raises so ranges are very hard to narrow down sometimes. They limp with TT and just call raises etc.

Question for when you first get into the orbit. How right or wrong is this of me to fold preflop. I am sure what I did is wrong.

First orbit, 4th hand. Still have about $300 which is max buy-in for this game. I bring $700 when I play in total. 9 handed game.

A K in the sb, no straddle. UTG limps, MP1 raises to $15, MP2 calls, LJ calls, and CO raises to $75. CO started with $350, MP about $200. How often would you ever fold this right here? 0%? I just sat down and only been playing again for a month. All players at the table are new to me.

I know I was wrong in folding but I had no feel for the game. By this casino's standards of NITS the hand just felt wrong. The $75 bet was then raised by the MP1 $215 total and played versus the CO. The result of the hand isn't what I am concerned about. How often when you have no feel for a game will you make an extremely tight fold so you can get a grasp on things?

I ended up getting a good handle on everyone at the table and having a very solid +$440 session but am trying to get back into studying and talking with other players to improve daily.

Thanks for any response/criticism.

In a low stakes game where I don't know the players, I assume a big cold 3-bet is AK+ unless the V has the signs of a splashy guy. I'm fine folding AKo to that action early in the game. If CO had the look of a pro or a gambloor who could be squeezing, I'd consider a 4-bet shove.

With the population read provided folding is fine. With a friskier crowd you can just jam over the top.

If you’re at a table where 3bets mean QQ, AK+, then I think fold is very reasonable in this spot. Your TT example hand is a very good descriptor of this type of environment. So I could see a fold in this case being reasonable.

If CO looks like a decent player, and you can often tell
this by the little things like bet sizing or a showdown if you’re lucky, he could be squeezing a lot wider than QQ+,AK due to the multi-way nature of the hand. There are 3-4 active players in the pot preceding him, and a lot of dead money from limpers and flatters. So if you think he’s the type to widen his 3bet range in response to multi-way action, I’d consider a jam here.

In a game like this (where it takes big hands for 3bets to come in), I'd have zero problem folding here. Obviously I might adjust that once I get a better read on the 3better, but as a default I think a fold is fine.

Yeah I wanted to echo what everyone else is saying. If you think TT is often limp/calling or cold calling an open, then think about what they are 3 betting with. Probably not AQ, for example.

It’s fine to exploit fold these spots.
