Villain is good reg. 16/13/3.6. Don't have any notes on him making this move before.

Against a seemingly competent player in this situation, I think this is a fold. Assuming you have no reason to think he's making a play, his line seems very strong. If you are in fact in front, you only beat AQ and maybe AJ. The flop is SO dry he can easily flat with a set, but then as the turn brings a fair amount of draws (which could easily be in your range) he value bets the turn. I guess having information regarding how he plays AQ in this sitaution would be extremely helpful i.e. would he 3bet a LP raise w AQ from the BB?

I guess if we only continue if we have a strong reason to think we are in front, and if so, we call the river too.

His choice of line probably had more to do with MP1 than you.

I agree. So does that mean you continue in the hand?

88,AK-AT range seems reasonable for the villain, doesn't it? If so, hero has %59 equity, making it an easy call, maybe an occasional raise/fold. Mostly I'd call the turn, check/call river to a reasonable bet (and again, occasional check/fold).

I'd prefer not to say what I'd do against a generic TAG in a spot like this that could come up quite a bit.

I think the best thing to do is look at what read bb would have of mp1 and go from there to establish his motives. That could greatly affect his perception of your range as well as his desire to slowplay something.

Fold, unless you have a very good read that screams otherwise.
