NL2/5. T7s Played by Alec Torelli NL2/5. T7s Played by Alec Torelli

Effective stack: 200bb. Alec Torelli has 200bb. Among all other players, one has 300bb and all the rest each has 400BB.

Alec Torelli opens to $10 at HJ with T7s. TAQ 3Bets at CO to $50. BU cold calls.

Is his preflop call with T7s really profitable because of the 200bb effective stack size? I assume if 100bb it should be a fold preflop. No?

Also, his open size is 2x at HJ...

No, unless the post flop play is really poor.

I've been at games where you can call any 2 pre-flop and win a lot of you hit. People were just playing so bad post flop that if you hit anything you would win a fortune.

But on the surface it looks like his play is bad. Maybe he was just bored and screwed up. He could of been on a heater or just wanted to make a fishy move to get invited back. Playing good poker is boring and 2/5 is a pretty low stake for him, so he's probably just having fun.

T7ss is even worse the higher SPR because it's a low gapper, so it rarely makes the nuts. He will get straight over straighted a lot and flush over flushed when a lot of money goes in.

He also doesn't really want to play this hand multiway because it's often dominated. He would rather have 78s or T9s or perhaps even T8s.

its counter intuitive bc of pot odds but you're supposed to play tighter here as hj when btn cold calls.

you can make an argument i guess most regs simplify out cold calling 3bs in most cases so its more likely btn is someone we want to play w.

would imagine this is losing even with some what of a skill edge bc of rake / very large 3b
