2/3 500max, hero just got into the game, hero has 500 behind

LJ opens to 15 (400), HJ calls, CO calls, hero has JsJh on button and 3b! to 75, SB covers hero, puts down food and stops eating quesadilla, and says “I am all in”, covering hero and has about ~600, folds back to hero.

Villain sits in standstill
Villain is midage ~40 and white

Hero??

With no history I just fold and move on.

What do you think his range is here? You're 3bing multiple players, squeezing light isn't very common at these stakes, and he stopped eating just to 4b you. I would guess JJ+ is his range so you're at the very bottom of it. I'd fold and find a better spot. His sizing is weird to me but I'd need some history or a read in order to call.

The number of villains in the entire 2/3 poker world who are going to stop eating and 4 bet bluff you can count on one hand. Fold and move on. Don't show.

Yeah, seems like an easy fold. Against any realistic range you're smoked. I guess he has {QQ+, AK} but an old guy may fold AK too. I'd call KK+.

The way I read it most people in the thread seem to think LJ opened to 15 and is now 4bet shoving, which tbf fold is probably still correct ... but as I read it SB just cold 4bet shoved into "raise/call/call/3bet" for 200bb and at that point it's very possible KK isn't a call unless SB is very special and knows hero.

“Should you fold KK pre in this spot:” is the most boring conversation in poker. If you never fold KK pre, the amount of BBs of equity you are losing is absolutely nothing to lose sleep over, and id almost guarantee you that the rare spots people DO fold KK is a cumulative error by the community. But sure, folding kk here is probably marginal one way or the other.

You need to be good 40% to call.

Against JJ+, AK, A5s you are 40% but assuming opponent has all AK and all A5s is extremely optimistic at this level. Take away the A5s but keep in all AK and you are 36%. Against a pessimistic QQ+, AKs (ie fairly arbitrary 25% of all AK hands) you are 25%.

With QQ you would be 49% against JJ+, AK, A5s. Against a much more conservative range of JJ+, AKs you would be 42%. Against a range of QQ+, AKs QQ would be a clear fold.

JJ seems a very clear fold here. I would call QQ by default against an unknown but take out my wallet to reload. That said, the food sounds like the biggest tell you'll ever get in your life so you can probably ditch QQ in this specific situation. At this level a lot of players are going to cold call AK and QQ-JJ (although hot food and postflop decision making aren't happy bedfellows; nobody likes counting out chips with refried beans and salsa dripping down to their elbows).

The food is an interesting detail. Whatever hand it is, I agree they don't want to have to fiddle with chips and went for the simplest move. This is QQ+ and AK.

I've only seen one case I can remember where I thought someone calling with KK was a pretty clear mistake.

The hustler casino hand where Mariano won AA vs KK vs KK. 100/200 blinds 250k deep. I don't even fault the first KK for going with it but 3rd guy was facing two guys already all in for 1250 BBs each
