Once a player is all in, that is considered the main pot, and that is all the money the all in player can win. The remaining players can continue to bet and play for more money. Those chips go into whats called a side pot. There can be more than one side pot.
Example. Player A goes all preflop in for $10 and players B,C and D all call. $40 in main pot.
Player B goes all in on the flop for $10, C and D call. There is now a main pot of $40 and a side pot of $30.
On the River player C bets $15 and gets called by D. This goes into a second side pot.
You can only win those pots you put money into. At the showdown, players C and D show. The winner wins the second side pot.
Now Player B shows and the best hand of B, C and D takes the first side pot.
Now player A shows and the best hand takes the main pot.
From the sound of it your hand was dealt correctly.
