I messed up at $1-$2 7 handed last night.

I am on the button and two people limp in front. I have AA and raise to $12. BB calls and two limpers call.

Flop comes 996 and it folds around to me. I cbet $31 which makes BB and one limp fold. Other limper goes all in for $203 total and I think about it for about 10 seconds and call. He turns over 69.

River comes 9 and then a 10.

I should have taken more time to think about it but this is the first live game I've played in 6 years so I was quick all night on decisions.

I got caught myself in a similar situation later in the night against the same player where I had KK raised, 3 callers and flop can 10106 and I had about $65 left with a $48 pot so I went all in and he called with a 109.

Moral of this story is I over played two pocket pairs.

Don't think that you misplayed just because you lost. In the first hand some players will ship with lower pocket pairs and flush draws. Folding is probably still best 4 ways vs. allin sizing, but with reads it could go the other way.

Second hand is a standard cooler for your stack size and not an overplay. I don't like overbet shoving though. If you get it in over two streets you'll get action from a wider range and win at least a flop bet from hands that won't call a shove.

Why do you think these are overplays?

Like someone said I think they are over played because I lost.

For the overbet I thought that if I only did half my stack what’s the point as I am pot committed anyway and I want to push our any draws.

I don't think you should have the attitude of wanting to bet a lot to get draws to fold. You should bet with the intention of getting called by worse hands. When you jam $65 into $48, you should be thrilled to get called by a draw, since they won't improve often enough to make their call profitable.

H1 probably isn't terrible, but I personally would need a good read on the other player to make this call with AA.

H2 if there were more draws available (e.g., 987ss) I might just 1.5x jam the flop. But on TT6 I'd rather bet small on the flop and put the rest in on the turn, to try to get calls from some hands we beat. Of course you'd get stacked on this hand anyway, but in general that's how I'd prefer to play it.

What draws? There are only gutters possible. I wouldn’t be concerned about those. Anyway it’s good if they call since they aren’t getting the odds even to a small bet.

By betting small you can more easily get action from Ax, gutters, underpairs and maybe just backdoors sometimes. The only bad turn is an Ax so don’t be concerned about getting the money in ASAP. I would bet $15.

The first hand makes it obvious that we have not found the perfect raise size yet. Try creeping up to the 20-25 range. Find the pain point, you'll make a lot more money once you know what that is.

I hope you don’t actually have this attitude. If you do, it needs to stop ASAP.

However, there’s better ways to get stacked than others. Your sizings are far too big and allowing your opponents to get off cheap with their weak holdings.

First hand you can even check, since there’s plenty of hands in their range that you want to get there (think hands like QJ that are drawing slim). And you probably only want two streets of betting anyway.

Second hand, shoving your short stack in on this board is also letting your opponents play well.

You played both hands close to perfect and lost, don't be results oriented. Over the long run, these plays will be +EV.
