As for the long-list problem that Petrucci describes, if you have Diamond or higher status through Caesars Rewards you get to jump lines. Bart Hanson has insisted in the past that it is worth investing in a video-poker junket to earn "Diamond in a Day" -- earn 5,000 tier credits in one day and get a 10,000-tier-credit bonus. It is perhaps just as easy to to this in two days, earning 2,500 credits each day and receiving two 5,000-credit bonuses.

Good venues to make this play are Harrah's/Harvey's on the south shore of Lake Tahoe, the Row in Reno, and (I have heard, but cannot verify) Harrah's Cherokee in western North Carolina. It is a less desirable play at other Caesars properties because their video poker doesn't pay as well or (worse) need $25 of action to earn a tier credit rather than the usual $10 per credit.

According to Bart, expected win playing a few extra hours in a juicy 75-150 limit Omaha/8 game in the King's Lounge compares favorably to expected losses in playing high-stakes video poker to earn Diamond status. There are other benefits too, such as free parking at Caesars properties and never, ever paying a resort fee again. And the line-cutting privileges extend to bypassing the long lines to register for WSOP tournaments.

One more drawback: Diamond lets you move towards the top of the lists, but Seven Stars status gets you to the very top.

I did Diamond in a Day last year, and had good results playing in the King's Lounge. This year I am coming in with Seven Stars status.

I am planning on arriving in Las Vegas on 20 June and staying through 2 July. I intend to play the Seniors, the Millionaire Maker, and the Super Seniors, with the understanding that a deep run in either of the first two would keep me from playing in the next one. I would likely be staying at the Horseshoe.

I'm there 15-25 and will also be playing Senior's and Milly.

Will be in Vegas May 27 through June 1 and have two friends playing in the Tournament of Champions, so will be rail-birding on Wednesday.

Edit: Can someone explain why the schedule says Event #3 Mystery Millions is a one day, but there are multiple flights and bounties begin on day two?

Beginning some point on Day 2, there will be bounties for knocking out players. Each player you knock out gives you a chance to pull an envelope. The envelopes range from 10k to the lucky one for 1M. There's also 1M guaranteed for 1st place in the actual tournament.

The question only I can answer but you can opine: shall I put $1200 in my bankroll and play more confidently in my shitty casino or blow it on travel to the wsop? If a pro normally makes $20 /hr in rec 1/2 games, how much does he make at cash during wsop? $30?

My guess is that wsop infuses the higher stakes with worse players, not so much the 1/3 cash tables I plan to play. After reading about last year’s disaster with wait times at wsop, I just might instead drink carrot juice in the deindustrialized Northeast casino with my decrepit friends.

If you have Caesar’s Diamond, wait times should be 30mins or less. Most of the time they told me to buy chips and by the time I got that done, there was a seat for me.

My wait at Aria was painfully long. Everywhere else was minimal.

The Friday/Saturday flights will have more players than the Wednesday/Thursday flights. They usually play to about 5% of the field left that day, which bags and moves on to day 2. They pay out the top 9-10% same day.

in 1 month's time I'll be about 4 hours into the 14 hour flight to SF which...given I booked this in December, means it's just around the corner.

There’s been a real deficit of TRs in LVL recently which is a shame

I can’t complain too hard though - I tried to do one a few years back and it shrivelled and died within 48 hours. Very difficult thing to do when you’re there having fun and in the moment
