No personal experience. I drive everywhere I go. Just heard really good things from almost everyone who has taken it, including cheaper rates.

I don't know anyone who has tried Uber & then switched back to cabs.

The one thing to look out for, though, is surge pricing. During really busy times, prices could double or triple, at which point it isn't worth it.

Could also check out Lyft & see if they're also doing surge pricing. No idea how Uber & Lyft compare. Haven't heard much about Lyft.

I've seen comments that while Uber is great from the airport and off-strip, it's hard to get picked up conveniently on properties, probably because they're neither guests checking in or sanctioned taxis/limos

Most casinos seem to have a lane for them or a designated spot. I think there is a forum that breaks down pickup/dropoff spots @ each property.

Pretty much all of them have it now, basically have to add $30 to the price per night, only 'nice' thing is you pay it at check-in not at booking

All casino-hotel-resorts have them, some free standing hotels do not. But the point is how large a fee? Some have a nominal $10 per night while others do make it $30 meaning that the 'fee' is actually a room rate.

This is a large part of why I pretty much always stay at Main Street Station. As well as liking the atmosphere, I usually get my room (weekdays) for about as much as I would pay for the resort fee alone on the strip. I rent a car to avoid the crazy taxi costs, though with Uber entering the market and some of the strip resorts charging for parking now, I may switch to Uber. I really like the freedom to go to rando places off the beaten path, though, so maybe not.

Slim has 2 peons to carry him from his corner suite at encore down to the wynn buffet every morning, and 3 to carry him back.

Room is a bit dated, but clean and spacious. An average 3-star hotel, imo. About even to Paris or Monte Carlo, perhaps. Better than Excalibur. Have never stayed at most of the lower tier strip properties. Only real downsides imo are the popcorn ceilings and the loud AC. Furniture is comfortable and updated, rooms have mini-fridges, and the room is very large, bigger than most non-suites I've stayed in on the strip. View does not compare to strip, ldo

Slim would not approve, but I find it just fine, and I really like the public spaces. It doesn't have the lingering smoke that so many downtown casinos/older strip casinos have, and I love the antiques/stained glass everywhere etc. Also, it has a brew-pub.
