Lapidator clued me in to this from the LC thread. No firm plans yet, but I generally play the Senior event, which kicks off 10 AM on June 18th. I'd usually arrive evening of 17th, leave Sunday 21st.

Assuming I play, I'd likely be free to meet up around lunchtime the 18th. I'd put me down in the 50/50 group; if it happens while I'm in town, would make.

Generally when doing tandems people use an "over under harness". The pilot in command is on the bottom. It gives them more control of the glider. Here we do more of a side by side where the instructor is slightly above the student. So the student is more in the pilot in command position. The student gets a much better feel for controlling the glider and the teaching process is much quicker. However. the instructor loses a bit of authority on the glider. For a highly skilled instructor it is no biggy and the payoff is well worth it.




Here u can see the student is below me with both hands on the control bar (horizontal bar that makes up the base of control frame which looks like a triangle). He has max pitch and roll authority. I have one hand on the control bar and one hand on the down tube (vertical component of control frame) where I lose some of that authority.

Cc- that pic was taken on a cold morning. We tow up to 2k feet A(bove)G(round)L(evel). Generally speaking the temp diff in the early am is negligible. Right now I go shorts t-shirt and barefoot

Yep, that's what I did. I took a car directly from the airport and went to Reef. It was expensive compared to home, but the variety wasn't half bad and the quality was decent.

OMG, I just scrolled through this whole thread. I wish I could get some of the time back

I'm a 51- (soon to be 52 in Vegas at the end of March) year-old woman, and I probably party and drink more than any of you. I drink at least a bottle of wine very night -- and two+ on weekends. In Vegas, it's more, and I'm rarely in bed before 4 a.m.

I'm going to try to make it the first week of June. Put me (and my husband) down as tentative. I'd love to meet you guys.
