Hello,
I'm a little embarrassed to post a couple if rudimentary questions but I need some help adjusting to live. I've just started playing live and I realize there is a lot of differences between ranges, opening sizes and mw pots etc.

I've played online for yada yada yada (you all have heard it before).

(I realize these are general questions and the answer is always "it depends")

So I'm playing live at a casino and no one is ever folding pre flop (NL but feels like pot limit). Every flop has at least 4 players weather its SRP or 3b. I have TT in middle position and UG who has a wide range like everyone else opens. I 3b and 3 other people at least call. It feels like a losing play as any pp that isn't QQ+ is in a losing situation basically set mining. So do I start flatting pp's here? Seems like obvious yes but wanted to make sure. Am I ever folding pp's, sc's, or even KQo vs players that are "fun" players post flop that will make a lot of mistakes? I've read that tight is better live but folding TT vs super wide range doesn't seem like a profitable play.

So next time at a poker room there are some better players and I'm flatting more IP and 2-3 players are squeezing a ton. No one folds. Should I CC my pp's, SC's, AXs, here or fold/ Seems like putting a lot of money in basically hoping to set mine etc. What about KQs,-TT, just an ez flat?

I appreciate it GLGL

live poker is significantly lower skill level

there's plenty who beat 2/5 who couldn't beat nl2 online

it'll take a while getting used to 8x openings and 45% vpips but once you do you'll be fine

as far as flatting vs raising, you don't have nearly as much fold equity live, so use that information to better decide what sort of spr you feel comfortable playing with

the guy who limped with his J8s was going to call the openers 6x open and is 50/50 to call if you 3bet whereas the guy who opened is calling/raising your 3! and folding a very very tiny amount of times

Now that I have experience with both live and online (I used to play exclusively live), I can tell you that set mining live is FAR more profitable than set mining online. You should not think of it so pejoratively.

The question of whether 3betting TT is a losing play is, to me, moot. Whether it is +EV or -EV is immaterial compared to whether it is better than calling. In a live situation, I have a hard time believing it is. When you hit your set you will be in a multiway pot where someone is not only likely to have caught a piece of it, but also to pay off one or two bets that will be quite big relative to your preflop investment. Online this scenario is far more rare.

KQo is different. In my experience live, calling someone else's raise with KQo can be a lot of trouble, since the parts of your opponents' range that you're in good shape against will have limped, not raised.

Thank you for taking the time that helps.

So next question is does it makes sense to iso to bigger sizes (I was going 5x plus 1 for each player) if I know everyone is calling? Especially with stronger hands? Even TT for example?

Should I also adjust opening sizes if table is super loose so larger for better hands etc.

live is purely exploitative because its a far more recreational player pool

there's a ton of threads on live poker, you'll be far better suited going there because these questions have all been asked a million times

Keep raising bigger til you find their threshold or end up all in. You want to take most of your 3b range heads up.

This. I'm going to lock this up. Please look in the best-of thread in the stickies and/or do a search for threads that have "live" and "online" in the titles.

While you're in the best of thread, also check out the thread on preflop sizing. Cliffs: It's controversial, with some crushers preferring smaller sizing to allow them to play a wider range, and some max exploit folks preferring to maximize value with premiums. A lot depends on how big and how observant your player pool is.
