I think people suggesting to check back this flop is extremely results oriented. She was getting a decent price to call off, just think she had to find the call button. But if she has no history or doesn't know he is capable of this, the bet/fold line is understandable. You can't give a free card on this board and you also need to protect/get value. Additionally as someone mentioned checking back for pot control also can be exploited with aggression by observant villains (such as Bryce) on future streets.
Imo, bet is mandatory for many reasons. (balance, value, equity prot). I'm sure had she checked back and a bad turn card came and she got bluffed and/or outdrawn everyone would be saying... "man, she should have bet the flop" Results oriented thinking is hard to avoid yo.
Personally given the pot and the villains competency and age/image, showing the q4 hand earlier I would convince myself to call off. 1) we are getting a certain amount of pot odds at this point. 2)villain is capable thinking player 3)it's a draw heavy board, villain is capable to semibluff/bluff and, it's hard to flop 2pair +. 4) we can discount kk,aa for the most part based on actions. (not entirely but they can be ruled out quite abit)
we are really only concerned with sets, and it's very hard to flop a set, he should have 2pair, or pair+draw,/ tt, or otherstuff enough to convince myself to look him up.
I asked this question in my post as well and am pretty sure I fold, but again, I'm playing 1/2 mostly and don't run into too many players who will 4bet me with AK or TT. Generally in my reg game a 4 bet is almost always AA or KK and occasionally but rarely QQ.
So even that deep, I'm probably just letting go of JJ there, even though I'm highly likely to get their whole stack when I hit my set.
As per your other comments, I see what you mean regarding results oriented, and I tried not to think about the hand that way, but once you know the results it's tough to undo.
However given how it played out, you seem to favor stacking off with the Queens there. I really want to disagree with you as I narrowed his range to AA, KK, JJ, TT, 99, 88, 77 & AhKh. Against that range QQ is crushed which I would lead to believe makes this a terrible -EV spot to call off in. Is my thinking flawed here? Even if you eliminate AA & KK knowing he always 5 bets you, she's still behind a good margin.
Is the problem that she bet too little giving herself too much fold equity? What if she had fired something like 1500 into that pot? Can he still make that play? I can't think so since that should pot commit her.
