Live 2/5 River Raise against Solid Reg Live 2/5 River Raise against Solid Reg

Live 2/5 Playing 1500 effective. MP (solid reg) opens to 15, Button calls and I call in BB with A 7

Flop A 7 4 Checked through (Pot 45)

Turn 10 I bet 25, only solid reg calls (Pot 95)

River 2 I bet 100, solid reg raises to 375. Hero?

I think I played this hand pretty standard. I'm not sure what he's raising for value, I can't think of a worse hand he'll raise for value that he'll play this way.

I can't think of many bluffs or value hands. Tens is an obvious value hand along with Aces. AT is possible but I feel like he would bet flop with that. Bluffs are probably 89 and gutters that want to bluff but I bet extremely big on the river (trying to get paid off by an Ace). I'm not sure what he's bluffing vs this gigantic size.

Against a solid player (maybe even a pro), what would you do?

This is the type of spot where most v's wont have any bluffs so it really comes down to beating value. Especially when you size up otr like you did and his raise size is pretty large. Pretty villain dependent but if we have no solid info folding is probably ok.

5,6 suited is a possible bluff. Unless you've seen him overplay top pair or maybe a worse two pair, it's a tough one. You block As and 7s. I think you would have heard from him prior if he flopped a set of 4s or 10s. I think it's really dependent on if you've seen him play trappy. Otherwise I think you're probably good here half the time and can call.

I have seen him level other regs in earlier hands. Earlier, he probably got the best player in the game to fold AK to a 5bet when he showed up with 89 (BB vs BTN). He definitely considers me an above average player and might bluff me here with a gutter on the turn that is nothing now.

Why the huge river bet? V’s range to the river is relatively weak so what’s he calling $100 with? Yet you get put in a terrible spot when V has a slow played AA TT 44 AT or 35, which had a double gutter on the flop. I think river should be a relatively small bet or a c/r that folds to a 3b

i don't think its a bad spot to look him up, smells like a-10 but its just such a dry board.

lets pay to see them.

You bet way too much on the river, I'd go for ~$70.

AP, I like a call.

I think he raises turn with his nuttish because that's the only way he's getting stacks in without overbetting the river, especially since he couldn't have expected you to bet so much on river.

Also, preflop I'm not a fan of playing A7s OOP against 2 players (including a solid reg). Either 3-bet bluff or fold.

Bet flop, size up turn.

Pre is fine, we're deep and have a discount to call, but once we flop top-top we can't just let it check through. Any Ax is calling flop, along with 56, any floats the reg might be doing, etc.

pre is standard no?
I donk lead the flop I think it becomes easier to play and villians range perhaps easier to define.
as played I call reluctantly too hard for me to fold Aces up in this spot

The better the Villain is as a player, the wider his range should be.

it's a gross spot but there's absolutely bluffs in Villain's range.

Im a POW so I'd probably call and muck face down when I'm beat

Bet 100-call is the nut low line with so many others to choose from otr. AP fold.

Standard until river, then I prefer a small b/c or a c/r. His play has been very passive to this point so there's no reason to believe he has a strong hand.
