Read: Villain is solid TAG player

I am trying to determine what to bet the river to extract maximum value now that my bluff has luckily turned into a made hand.

Stacks:
Villain ~$500
Hero ~$600

Villain is Button
Hero is BB with 2h 5h

5 players limped to see flop

Pot: $15

Flop: 4h 6d 7s

Hero bets $8
UTG + 1 calls $8
Villain raises to $23
Hero raises to $60 (do you like this raise? I know villain tries to pick his spots, and I felt my weak lead made it look like he could take away this pot on the flop without a monster)
Villain calls

Pot: $143

Turn: 4h 6d 7s Qc

Hero bets $80
Villain thinks for 30 seconds and calls

Pot: $303
River: 4h 6d 7s Qc 8d

Hero bets ???

I luckily made my hand on the end. I primarily ruled out sets based on how I have seen him play them before (e.g. I think he re-raises on the flop with this dangerous board). I put his range as two pair combinations (64, 67, 74), 5X for the chop, 88-TT

My questions are:

1) Given what I believe his range to be (or what you may believe it to be), how much do you bet the river?

2) Should I bet most river cards regardless of making my hand? If so, how much?

3) Should I have given up after the flop?

Any other general feedback on how I played the hand from start to finish would be appreciated.

I will post my bet and resulting outcome tomorrow.

Thanks!

I bet $200 OTR. I actually don't think Villain is calling you very often anyway (and when he does he is chopping a lot), and I don't think you can induce a raise with a small bet, so you might try to make a decent amount on the river.

I would probably have bet a little more on the turn so as to give him the impression that you intend to shove the river. A bet of $100 may have increased your fold equity significantly.

As for the flop, I think fold>3-bet>call, but given your read I guess the 3-bet isn't bad.

he doesnt jam you with a set on this board he flats your 3bet and re-evals the turn...why would he jam you with a set when he folds out weaker and gets called by the made straight... hero got lucky otr and bets 175, but he probably wont call you with 4 to a straight without the straight himself... When villain calls turn, if the river bricks i think he is calling you also.

Preflop looks good.

I'd check and probably fold this flop cuz our hand sucks, even though we've flopped an OESD. Even if we hit, our implied odds suck cuz the 4 to a straight is obvious, plus we're chopping sometimes plus someone has a better hand other times. If only one person bet a very small portion of the pot, I might call, other than than, check/fold, next hand. I don't like bluffing into the world when there are far too many behind us yet to act.

I think the rest of the flop and turn were big spews. In order to bluff, we want to bluff against people who have shown weakness, not strength.

On the river, I'd probably shove. It's just a mild overbet (if I've counted right) and this guy looks to have a strong hand that he's having trouble letting go.

I don't really agree with any of the hand as played except preflop also. Flop is a mess, I wouldn't even bother leading out here.

Since you decide to represent something big here I don't like the turn sizing here. I would bet more on the turn to line up a shove on the river, putting more pressure on this villain to fold a small overpair on the turn.

I have no clue how a TAG has something remotely strong enough given his position and original preflop call to flat 3-bet on flop and not do something over your small bet on the turn. I don't think I'd play ANY hand like that after I call the flop 3-bet.

Anyways, given how the hand has played out, I'd bet something like 1/2 pot here since my read is he has something like second pair/rivered set.

I'd shove and expect to get called enough to make it better than a small bet, but I wouldn't shove on a blank because I expect to get called even more often.

Thanks for the input all. Looking back I agree, there are def. much better spots to bluff then the spot here.

I ended up betting $160 into the $303 pot on the river. Villain tanks for a few minutes and finally calls. I never see his hand.
