Hey 2p2, I'm brand new here--this is my first post

Anyway, I was hoping to get your guys' feedback on a hand I played in live 1/2nlh the other day.

I'm on the button with about $200 behind. I have KTd. There was one limper before me. I raise to $6. SB reraises to $16. He has bout $140 behind. Limper folds, I call. Flop is T67 rainbow. SB checks. I bet $15 with my top pair. SB calls. Turn is another 6. SB leads All In for about $120. I tank and fold.

He showed me, but I'd like to hear your thoughts before you know his hand, which I'll include at the very bottom. My thought process was that he 3bet from the SB preflop, which I thought was pretty strong. I thought he had AA-TT or maybe hit a set of 6's or 7's. I couldn't call off my stack with top pair second kicker... was it the correct fold?

He showed pocket 8s -_- RIP

Your preflop raise is way too small for live 1/2. I'm guessing you're pretty new to live poker, or poker in general. If you've watched higher stakes games on TV or streams, 3x seems like a good raise size, but that's not how these low stakes games play. You'll want to raise much bigger. Standard at 1/2 is usually 5x + 1x per limper, so in this spot I would go $12.

This is not a hand we like to get 3-bet while holding, but given the price you're getting and being on the button, call is fine.

Betting the flop is fine, and so is your sizing. You could go a bit bigger on this flop if you wanted.

On the turn the pot is about $60 and he's jamming for $120. You're not going to face these types of bets very often, and trying to figure out what they mean can be pretty difficult. The first time you see face these bets vs. an opponent, I'd give it the respect it deserves, and fold all but your strongest hands. If someone is over-using this play as a bluff, you'll figure it out soon enough, and can open up your calling range. I'd fold here.

Playing live with 1 limper I like pf a little bigger. Make it 10 or 12. 6 just seems like nothing.

I don't really like the sb's 3 bet size. it's too small. He should be making it like around 24.

As played with a suite KT in position against a small 3 bet size I like the call.

That board is pretty dry. I like a check back here or a slightly smaller bet. I'm guessing you bet for value and a little protection which isn't terrible but if you think about the rest of your range vs this board I don't think I like it as much.

The turn is really weird by sb, but I don't think I fold TP second best kicker here. Because if I fold here I think I'm folding too many hands vs this line which seems weird. If he played an overpair this way then I'll just make a note, but I would call and get stacked at least the first time.

In my experience this line from players at these levels is usually a hand weaker than TP that picked up some kind of equity on the turn. So my default isn't to fold TP or better vs these lines.

Awesome. Thanks for the pf raise tip. Yah I’m pretty new. I’ve probably logged <100 hours at 1/2. Really just starting. Apparently I’ve been watching too much HSP with my raise sizing. I totally agree with the respect. That was my thought process. He and I only played one or two big hands together so I never got the chance to exploit this play later on. But I figured I’d lost more money to bad calls than bad folds. Thanks for the advice

Just fold to the 3bet with KTs unless you know that the villain is 3 betting wide, will play fit or fold post flop and can fold an OP to pressure. And by wide, I mean he's 3 betting a button raise over 30% of the time. You're behind that range.

FWIW, 3betting 88 in the blinds against a button raise was standard play online prior to Black Friday. Have no clue today if that is the case online.
