Villian is a regular I play again in a local charity room where we play 1/2 NL. I know her game well. She is a big looser and plays even worse when loosing with bluffs, and more agrro lines in general. Even when not tilted her general style is LAGGY. She plays her strong hands fast but also overvalues top pair or medium strength hands and still calls when raised. She likes to bet when checked to if she connects in anyway. Her downfall is just doesnt know when to slow down. With this said I often find it hard to provide a profile of a player as well as the actual experience of sitting down and playing, but this is a nutshell profile.

Villian is one to my left and in cutoff. A few limpers. Hero limps with QhJd. Villian raises to $7. Limpers and Hero call.

Flop = J86 rainbow.
Checked to Villian who bets $20.
Hero calls.
Turn = Qs
Check, Check
River = Kd

Hero bets $50.

I really would like some thoughts on this line. Normally, I HATE check call lines. But this is a player who likes to be agressive and has bluffs in her range when weakness seems present. Still, I kinda regret betting $50 on the river because I can't imagine too many worse hands that call. She probablly isn't the type to call with AJ here and I think her range is pretty big given the small PF raise. My intention was to check raise the turn when I made two pair. I guess the only reason I bet the river was to at least prevent myself from having to call a bigger bet. I guess the board texture doesnt make my two pair much of a bluff catcher and I am just as good with one pair. Checking the river may also allow induce bluffs into her range. Either way, I mostly concerned with my river play as I think it was an ok like versus this villian.

thoughts?

At first glance this line seems really bad, because the board looks scary enough that middle 2p doesn't seem like it gets called by worse. However, when we break down villains range here, it's not THAT bad. I think vil folds all random 8x, 6x, 57 hands. But shows up with no straights and can maybe show up with a lower 2p (depending on how light vil opens). Normally I hate this play, and I think hero should have bet closer to 1/2 pot, but I think this is fine given the villain.

What are the effective stacks?

I think $50 is a bit steep for a river bet. Sounds like there's 70ish in the pot. V checked turn, after making a c-bet postflop. I don't see her calling much here, especially a bet of $50. I think a bet of $20 is better. Seeing that she checked the turn, best case scenario for you is she has AK and rivered TP. Other than that, she's likely folding to your bet.

prehand- need stack sizes

preflop- limping is bad. Either raise or fold. This is the difference between playing good poker and playing bingo. Either save your two dollars or raise and take control

flop- Bet. What kind of flop were you looking for?

Turn- as played, bet. If she raises you can rip your pants off and swing them around your head as you put more money in the pot.

River- As played bet whatever amount she'll call with a mediocre hand.

Sorry, we were both deep like $400+ effective. Another reason I didn't want to play a huge pot.
