Game is $2-$100 spread-limit. Blinds are $1-$2 with an optional $4 UTG straddle. In this hand UTG1 has opted to put out a “Dead $8”—essentially, raising to $8 without looking at his hand. (It’s not a “live straddle” because he doesn’t have an option; if the other players merely call the $8, UTG does not have the option to raise, we just go to the flop.)

THE HAND: three players call the “Dead $8.” I raise to $40 in the BB with KdTd. The live straddle and the “Dead $8” fold but the first two callers call it. (The third one folds.) So three ways to

FLOP: Jh6c3h (pot: $130, 3-ways)

I have $500. First caller has $40 left. Second caller also has $500.

Question 1: Do we bet or check?

I do check. The other two check as well.

TURN: Jh6c3h 5s (pot: $130, 3-ways)

I check again. V1 goes all-in for $43. V2 folds.

Question 2: Can we call?

Preflop is questionable but workable as a squeeze. There is a lot of money that is effectively limped in.
On the flop you whiffed hard, have 2 opponents and one has a trivial stack. It's either check/fold or go ahead and put the short stack in. I favor check/fold because you missed so hard. On the turn unless villain is really bluffy then fold, if he has any pair or any ace he is well ahead. If he has a wide range and makes a lot of bluffs call sometimes because it cheap and villain will have T9 sometimes.

Man, i wouldve played it exactly the same way and then had the exact same question ott lol. So im just here to see what others say. I think its a sad fold.

I feel like in limit holdem people fold ott with hands like this all the time. So could apply the same logic here.

The first two callers are probably pretty strong, calling the blind raise first and second to act then flatting a 40 dollar bet in 1/2 so idk why you're even considering calling the river with king high.

Pre is borderline imho and ime, you're OOP in the BB with two early callers why didn't you just call? If you think the straddle isn't the type of player who would auto raise when 5 people limp to him I would just flat pre but that's just me.

If you're going to attempt this squeeze pre, I think you need to raise larger than $40, more like $50.

Before you squeeze, you should look at the stack depths of the other opponents. It appears V1 only started the hand with $83? If that's correct, I don't think squeezing here is good, because we can't raise to $40 or $50 and fold for another $33-$43 if he jams. Do we really want to play KTs for over 40bb?

Once you get to the flop the way you do, I dunno. Maybe they both fold if you fire out a big c-bet, but V1 would have to be pretty bad to call pre and fold now. We already torched $40 pre, and whiffed. I think we can just check-fold.

Turn, I just fold. If V has a J we're drawing dead to 3 outs.

I throw in a call. I think I’m usually drawing to just six outs—sometimes less (sometimes I’m drawing dead!), but I could also be ahead of course (98/78? worse-than-K-high flush draws?) and, most importantly, when it’s close, I think showing that I’ll call down with a shitty hand is better for my image than folding. Become unbluffable!

I table my hand and V immediately says “you’re not ahead.” River is an offsuit 7. Villain tables ….
