1/3 game

Villain is an aggressive reg who often plays 1/3 and 2/5 deep stacked. V is $600 deep in HJ. Villain has raised and c bet 5 of the last 7 hands and gotten them with no resistance. This is normal for him.

Hero is $270 deep in CO with Kc Qh.

3 limps to villain who makes it $13. Hero 3 bets to $45. Folds back to V1 who calls.

Flop ($100)

9h 7h 3h

Check check

Turn

2c

V1 bets $45. Hero?

I’ll peel one here, not folding yet.

And I’m calling a bet OTR if/when the board pairs.

We have 14 out to improve. Just call on the turn and see the river.

Is there ever a reason to jam here?

I'm fine with preflop against this villain. Although at this stack size it will setup a commitment spot postflop, which can be dicey with this hand. A call will obviously invite everyone else along, so a terrible multiway very small SPR spot. So I actually don't hate a fold either; if you're looking to pass on some high variance / close spots, this might be one (but it is obviously nitty).

With 2 overs and a flush draw I probably do a small bet here and just attempt to end it. Checking back will put us in an awkward spot on the turn if we whiff and he donks.

Kinda the awkward turn spot I didn't really want to be in. We don't have much IO on our flush draw and might actually have very poor RIO. Who knows if our overs are good. And he's probably capable of barreling nothing for stacks (with only a PSB left), so what's our river plan? Calling UI? I probably sigh let this go at this point.

If you're going to three bet pre-flop, you should continue the aggression on the flop on this board, representing a high pocket pair. He's probably folding most Ax and face cards here unless he has a heart, and if he calls, you can narrow his range to medium pairs (I'm assuming an aggro 4bets JJ+ pre) and Ahx and Khx. Because you checked the flop, the villain took the initiative from you on the turn. He has a lot of Ax in his range, so you are probably now behind. You have some equity with the draw to the third nut flush, but he could have the Ah or Kh, and you could get coolered. So AP, fold to the turn.

Bet the flop, especially since you have position, AKhh / AxAh and KxKh is in you're perceived range. Fold the turn, we might even be drawing dead.
