I have history with this villain. He usually comes in drunk and donates 3-4K and buys in 300 at a time. Gets pretty sticky on hands but will fold to big raises.
Will play 90% of hands.
Calls 80% of raises
Calls 60% of 3-bets
Will 3 or 4 bet with KQ or AJ but never with AA or KK.
He really seems like the best kind of donating fish.

Game is 2-5NL with a $10 straddle

V: BB (700)
H: LJ (Kh, Kc)

Preflop
+1 limps , calls 50
LJ Hero raises to 50
HJ calls
Button calls
BB Villian calls

Flop (260)
2d, 4d, 9s
Villain bets 100, +1 folds, H calls, everyone else folds

Turn (460)
7h
Villain leads for $200, H goes all-in

Looking for advice on flop and turn.
Flop - is this a raise? I wanted to let other flush draws in and raise turn assuming diamond does not come.
Turn - Do I flat? I raise bc I assume IÂ’m ahead but want to charge for flush draws and donÂ’t want a diamond on the river to kill the action. My one pair hand feels somewhat vulnerable as well.

What is the right way to maximize against this type of opponent? If he has two pair or a set, heÂ’s going to get my money at these stack depths

I’m new to this so please let me know if i need to provide more information

At a $700 stack it seems reasonable. Don’t love the spot but not folding.

You said he calls 80% of raises. But he is the one pumping in the money on this hand. You dont mention that anywhere in the lead up to the hand. How aggressive is he? Most of these donators are either maniacs or calling stations, rarely both.

I’ve seen him be a station and a maniac. Usually he is a station. The tough thing about this opponent is that sometimes he thinks he has a good hand (ie TPMK) and is willing to bet like he has a really good hand. When he has nuts, he’ll usually go all-in or raise all-in.

I think my question with a player like this is, how do you get max value with an overpair knowing he can have any two cards. I’m almost never folding an overpair to him unless the board is really connected (3 to a flush, 4 to a straight etc) but not exactly sure when to raise for value.

I’ve been playing these situations pretty Vanilla but I want to learn to extract value a bit better. I hope they makes sense.

If he is a maniac let him be the maniac, not a lot of reason to raise him off his aggression unless you have a very vulnerable hand. Bottom two on a two flush flop for example. If he is letting you take the betting lead and calling you down over three streets then obviously bet all your value for larger amounts than you would vs other players and stop bluffing him.

sounds like he will let you know if you need to stop betting your overpair and can fold when he shoves on you. But other than that, keep all his bluffs in, sounds like he has no problem splashing around, ride the variance and hold on for the ride.
