1/2 6 handed

H has about 250
V has Hero covered

H looks at two red Kings in LP and has position on V

V had limped, Hero opened to 20, and V called

Flop (40ish)
6c7h5d

V checks, Hero pets 40, V x/raises to 140. Hero has about 190 left. Fold or shove?

Flop range favors V but why x/raise so much. If you flopped a set or straight, why not call and let me hang myself?

Are you also opening to $20 with your non-premiums? When I see guys open huge then pot the flop it screams “overpair”.

I’m either checking back the flop or betting $15 for this very reason. (My current thread is a very similar spot except it’s 678hhh and I have Kh). But this is a board where the limper is going to raise a lot, and I don’t think bluff catching will be super profitable. As played I fold.

Opponent is OOP, so X/C a PSB might allow you to X back the turn. They might also believe that you will not fold an over pair.

AP, I’d probably fold after the X/R on a PSB.

If this was a 3B pot, I think you can make a case for a large bet, but in this spot I’d opt to bet smaller most of the time, and X at some frequency.

We should be checking back this flop a lot and KK is a good hand to do it with

$20 pre and pot flop basically turned your hand over. Other player should read you for and overpair and is shovelling $$ in the pot. He doesn't think you can fold an overpair - Disappoint him and fold.

I disagree that we have to check this flop. This is a trapi used to get into, but we don't have to respect boards like this as PFR because villains are just so wide. This is probably a check or primarily a check in equilibrium, but limp-calling also isn't a thing in equilibrium and neither is calling presumably as wide as he is. I would bet $15 otf though.

As played, this is a fold. You just bet pot and got raised on a board where villain has every set, probably every suited two pair and suited straight (except 84s.) Villains will also usually just play pair + SD passively.

You could check back flop, but against most villains I'm just betting.

If he has 98s, suited two pairs, sets, and then 88 and 78 as semi-bluffs we have 29% equity and need 30% to call. Really this just comes down to what you think of the guy. Does he seem like the type of guy who might just ship A7? Pretty close spot. If he seems like a passive nit just let it go. If he looks like a goofball get it in.

I don't think his raise sizing is any kind of tell and I would let go of that kind of thinking.
