1/2

relatively new table, we were playing 4 handed for a while 3 younger guys including my self pretty active from LP and high c-bet frequency I'd say I was 2nd most aggressive, trying to play well and not over do it using a smaller size then the LAG raising to 10 9/10 BU's. other young guy is main V in this hand, seems like he's trying to play like a computer, high raise freq LP also using a smaller size seems to be range betting flop for 1/4 size. Hasn't done any 3-betting or check raising though

table filled up a little more including a LAG you want in the hand.

H 300$ UTG raise KhJh to 7$
main V 210$ calls MP
blinds call including LAG in BB who covers

flop KsJs6h (28$)

blinds check, I decide to size up a little bit on wet board and bet 20$

main V calls
SBfolds
BB calls

turn (88$) KsJs6hTd

only draws that come in are gutshots or spades + gutshots, I decided I should still be charging draws and any thing that improved to two pair/ good Kx planning to bet fold here

BB checks
H bets 65$
V jams for 175$ total
BB folds
Hero?

wasn't sure if V really had that many gutshots here that hit, thinking AQ should be 3!, gutshots need to fear a 3rd spade rolling of , I'm not going to put him on one combo of Qs9s. How should I think about this spot? Thanks

Interesting hand. I really like the way you played it.

In these spots I like to ask myself “Will I ever have worse hands in this spot? Will I ever have better hands in this spot?”

You raised UTG, bet into 3 people on a KJ6 board and then bet again into 2 on a T turn.

I think if you run the scenarios through your head, KJ is the absolute *worst* value hand you can ever show up with here. *Maybe* the occasional AA or AK or KT, but, *realistically*, KJ is the weakest you’ll ever be in this spot. You *could* have KK, JJ, AQ, and the occasional 66 (I’m not sure how many players were in the hand when it started, if 66 is a hand you raise UTG with, etc).

So that’s how *I* think about these spots. When you’re at the bottom of your value range and get shoved on, lean towards folding; when you’re at the top, lean towards calling. Since you’re at the bottom, you should probably fold. (Maybe not all the time, but most of the time.)

Its 4handed, usually a very different dynamic. Not that many worse value hands he could Jam with though. Maybe JT/KT. Straight is unlikely. 66 a Bit more likely. Odds are very good, so it seems like an easy call. Deeper things would have been tougher.

There is already $153 in the pot when villain makes it $175 more, all in. (Now the pot has $328 in it).
It is basically a 1 for 1 shove size (1.1-1). Not that scary.
You just started the betting on the Turn by putting in $65.
So you only have to call $110 to win a $328 pot.
Pretty good odds.
With odds like that I think we should be calling a lot, even with top pair, good kick. With top 2 pair, I'd be very inclined to call.

You already have $92 dollars of your $300 stack involved.
Your Turn bet got you to pot-commitment threshold.
Generally, I use the 1/3 stack as my pot commitment idea, so this is a take it or leave it spot for me, but it is very close to pot committed. I think I would feel committed.

So if you don't want to get all in on the Turn with top 2 pair on this board, then I think your flop and Turn bets should have been smaller.

My vote is for a call and hope he doesn't have AQ.

Alright I did call and he had AQ, started to feel like he never has bluffs or worse value but maybe that’s too results oriented.

You bet 70% on the Flop in a multi-way hand and 70% on the Turn. It might have been easier to get away from this if you’d been betting smaller and/or if he was fully stacked.

You played it very well. Turn decision is extremely—sometimes you should call, sometimes you should fold. Neither decision is *very* bad. I *think* I would only call with my sets (and fold my two-pairs), but Top Two is close enough here. Just a cooler that plays itself.
