Hero $260 in a NL 1/2 Horseshoe NWI

EP wild player says "make it 5", MP calls, button calls
Hero is in big blind with KJ and calls
Pot is $20
Flop comes K 9 J
Hero checks, wild player checks (?), MP checks, button bets $15
Pot is now $45
Hero reraises to $30, mistake? should I have called here?
Thanks in advance.

Why check in the first place? Lead out. Wild player will continue if he has anything. This is basically a limped pot, do there are all kinds of weak Pairs, Pair +GS, etc. in people's ranges, and they won't be afraid of a lead. Get that value. If someone has a set or QT they'll likely let you know.

AP, why the min-raise? Anything that will call that will call a bigger raise.

I guess I need more information about the "wild" guy. Is 5 his normal raise? Does he typically make just 1/3 PSB?

If he does, he doesn't sound very wild. If he doesn't, then we should think about what he could have. I'm going to guess AA. If so, then I'd bet out on the flop. He's going to think he trapped you.

I cannot for the life of me understand min raises at all. They say "make it 4" or "make it 5" all the time in my game. I made it 30 in the hopes that I would get a call from the button.

Venice, the wild guy didn't c-bet. He checked flop and BTN was the one who bet 1/3 pot.

Flop bet was $15 into $20, as in 3/4 pot. I don't like the min raise. We rarely get action from the EP (wild player) or MP, since they would likely have enough of a hand to bet if they could call our $30 raise. Also, BTN will likely call a raise to $40-45 with nearly the same frequency as our min raise.

Wild guy likes to do 5 and then do huge reraises. He gets a lot of calls. I reraised to 30 because i wanted him to smell cash and commit...sadly he folded.

excellent point, i do the minraise in my mind to get a call and i guess i have to cut that out. Sadly, on this play everyone folded and i felt like the board was so wet that was OK but i missed out on some $ with my equity for sure

raise pre. a raise to 5 from EP is going to generally be a less than stellar hand. people calling a raise to 5 are almost always going to be not great hands

pot is 18 when it gets to you, make it 30-35

AP flop, overbet this flop. someone with 76 isnt calling any bet, but someone with J9/K9/QJ/JT/T9 is going to peel. we're behind so few hands because we block KK/JJ, plus they are unlikely due to preflop action, so that leaves only QT/99. 19 combos of hands vs 48 combos of the few hands i listed, and with 1/2 players, the could easily peel with bare a Q or T or Q/T that has a BDFD
