7 handed 1/1

MP opens 8bb (200bb)
HJ calls (100bb)
Co calls 250bb
Hero on button JQcc (200bb)

Should we be 3B pre here ? Or is this just spot to call. Or opponents depending

An ok squeeze spot I guess but certainly opponent dependent and most specifically, MP’s VPIP and 3-bet calling tendencies.

I’m fine overcalling on the button here. This hand plays fine multi-way esp in position and we unblock the most premium opening hands.

I'm less inclined to squeeze with position. We have the button, MP should be opening pretty reasonably here, QJs plays well multiway and we will position on the entire field. Absent a read that SB or BB are ridiculously squeezy I prefer to take a flop and use my post op position to maximize value. If you were SB I could se more of a case for this

One of the advantages of not squeezing here is that it allows you to leverage more of your stack post flop b/c the SPR will be higher. This can allow you get a creative with bluffs and force him off 1 pair hands if need be.

Opponent and situation dependent. If you expect QJs is behind the ranges of the people already in the pot and that one of the blinds will squeeze if you don't raise it might even be best to fold, but that would be a rare situation.
How sticky are opponents? What sort of ranges do they have? How likely are the blinds to squeeze if you don't? How much has hero been raising lately? How good is hero's image? I would generally lean call.

I would squeeze sometimes though having medium strength hands makes position more attractive at higher SPR.

I don't think he can leverage his stack postflop. First, because it's multiway. Second, because he has 100bb facing an 8bb PFR that's going to 4 or 5 way, so right of the bat, the pot on the flop will be either 32 or 40bb and the SPR will be 2.5 to 3bb.

This is also the problem with 3betting. Hero will 3bet a fourth to a third of his stack. I still prefer it, because I 'd rather take the dead money off and play a pot HU even with shallow stacks.

It goes without saying, you 3bet only if villain isn't a nit who only raises premiums.
