JJ tough spot... what to do what to do JJ tough spot... what to do what to do

I am in a tougher than normal 1/2 game. A few fish at the table but some competent players. Hero has literally folded for 2 hours straight, about as card dead as possible. Only hand raised was in the CO with 10 9 offsuit when folded around in attempts to stay relevant in the game.

Button $5 straddle, 1 caller, Hero is in MP with JJ

Stack size for hero: 175. Hero makes it 20$, button calls, limper calls.

Stack size is about 100. Button is down 300 and is competent, but may be looser than normal atm because he is stuck.

Stack size 161. Limper is your average losing player. Not a drooler but a losing player. He knows what is going on and is familiar with image, he plays a lot of poker but is not very good.

POT: $63

Flop 689

Villain 1 checks, Hero bets $40, button folds, villain shoves for 141 All in. Hero????

He instantly shoved.

Do you have the J?
Also, what did the BTN do? I assumed he folded to the AI?

Given that you have the J im calling here
Villian likely wouldnt play a flopped flush like this (unless its a super lower SC flush, but since most are onboard, I doubt he called a raise pre with like 3s2s).
I can see villian showing up As and a pair

Its kind of hard to assign him a range here but I think we're ahead alot here...

Does that look reasonable?
I dont actually think he'll have a 7T/57 for a flopped straight here very often, so I just entered the one combo

Easy easy call. Would normally fold two red jacks but given read I'd probably tank call with JJ, expecting it to be +EV by no more than like $15.

He could have AK with a spade idk i guess if he doesnt have u beat with a higher spade or a flush then you should call not a good spot tho... if u were folding for 2 hrs straight it might be time to call it a day.

So it was the less skilled player who check/raised you all-in? On a monotone flop? Damn, I'm folding all day to that villain with just JJ.

Considering there is a $5 straddle, on the flop effective stack sizes are very small. Preflop you only have 35bb for example. After you bet $40, we are looking at $100 more to call, so only 20bb. Bet/folding $40 on this flop considering stack sizes is absurd. So you have to bet/call. Also, your preflop raise needs to be larger.

Snappity snap. So many draws in his range u are beating.

You put in more than 1/3 your stack you have an overpair and you have a decent spade draw. You are ahead of a lot of draws and arent in bad shape against 2 pair. You aren't even that bad against a made straight and its a bad call against a baby flush but not terrible. You are only really bad against a made flush that is higher than yours but that's probably a small part of his range.

What do you think our bet sizing should be? 25 pre?

The tough thing about it is a 9 offsuit is not in his range. This is like AQ off with ace of spades, or two pair best case scenario. We are actually in very good shape vs 2 pair though
