Horseshoe Hammond 1/2
Hero bought in for 200 and is at 380 now. I've been there for 2 hours after work. I know 3 guys at the table. When I was younger I would have mistaken my play for skill, but now I know I'm just running good.
Hero is in the BB with J10
MP limps he's a stranger
Cutoff limps, he is known to hero. He's a 35 VPIP guy who seems gambley/unlucky to hero. He opens often for 15 or 20. He does not win much session wise. I've seen him at Blue Chip in the past too. He plays blackjack I think and often rebuys with a blackchip he'll pull from his pocket. 50 yo WG. 150 stack or so.
SB completes, never met him before.
Hero checks his option
Pot $8
Flop A109
Hero checks, it then checks around.
Turn 9
Hero, SB check, MP checks, Cutoff bets $10
SB folds
Hero calls. Is this a fold? Often it'll check on the river and then the 10 may be good. I think I should have folded though. MP folds.
River 9
POT $28
Hero has a Boat 9s full of 10s
Hero leads out for $20
Cutoff reraises to $60
Hero???????????????????
I never think about the 9 here as much as the ace and that the Cutoff could have one.
F*** Zeebo's Theorem? It's a limped pot let it go?

I'd make the call on the turn. I'm not buying Ax checks the flop with a FD out there.

On the river though, I'd check. If the villain wasn't bluffing, I'm not ahead. If he was, he's never calling. If he bets, I make the crying Zeebo call.

Why did you bet river?

AP, trivial fold.

I think you're right about the river. I was afraid it was going to go check/check. I thought he was capable of bluffing on the turn.

Excellent point about the ace. I don't know why i didn't think of that later in the hand.

River bet is awful. I check and depending on the Villain's bet, I probably call.

River is epic train wreck. Obvious fold

Turn call is fine. Folding is probably more standard.

On the river, we get value from nothing if we bet and it its possible he has nothing. Check and let him continue bluffing with all his air balls.

As played, fold. It's just too likely that he checked back the flop with Ace-rag and is now trying to push us off a chop for the hell of it or that he actually has the case 9. Villain puts hero on a 1 card boat with an ace.

Yeah, I folded here. It's a good lesson. Great advice Nogyong:

"On the river, we get value from nothing if we bet and it its possible he has nothing. Check and let him continue bluffing with all his air balls."

I will follow it.
