If you never folded a flopped set in your lifetime... If you never folded a flopped set in your lifetime...

Ugh, I only ever folded a set once, and I was way off. I was playing in a home game against a guy I had a LOT of history with. He's super tight, and almost never bets big without the nuts or close to it.

I got dealt 33 on the button, I believe I called a rasie with 3 players. Flop came 963. It checked to me, I bet he raised me, i reraised and he shoved. There were no flush draws and he wouldn't ever go crazy with those. I relutantly folded and showed. He showed A9, and his excuse was you're just so wild sometimes. I was like talking to myself for the rest of the night, trying to figure out if I made the wrong play haha.

Unless Villain is an idiot, what is he taking a raise cold to the face with plus with the preflop raiser/cbetter still to react? I'm also checking the turn back.

River is tough and comes down to whether I think he can ever do a blocking bet with worse on a 4-to-a-straight board, I probably lean to sigh fold.

Come on, Man. You're checking back a set because someone called your raise? We only started with 70BBs. Checking back is in the nit hall of fame. And if we somehow check back and then pay him off when the board is drastically worse, we should be tarred and feathered.

The pot was like $250 on the turn and we only have like $150 left. Not shoving 77 on a J87Q board is criminal. There are so many 2 pair combos and pair and draw combos that will call. Checking back and letting the board get even worse is not good.
Hero didn't start with 70 BB.

Villain had 70 BB in what started out as a multi-way pot. Given that hero raised the flop, the SPR is now so small that he almost has no choice but to shove, but that's a problem with the flop play, and if you play the flop better you shouldn't get stacked here.

So what's your typical range you're up against here?

Jx+nodraw insta-folds, amirite? He's seen the raiser cbet into the world and then get raised and the action is now reopened to the raiser. Unless reads are "biggest fish at the table by a mile" there's no Jx+nodraw here. Obviously same for smallerpair+nodraw.

65? Ok, made a speculative preflop call closing the action, fine. But really attempting to continue with the OESD with the action reopened? Ditto for 96 if it manages a call preflop.

Pair + gutshot?

Some wonky two pair (with bottom two pair being the only reasonable preflop hand)?

With the action re-opened to the raiser who might be smacking his lips to jam, most people give up on most hands here that aren't nuttish, no?

Which leaves better sets and the straight.

If reads are he's the biggest fish in the room, ok, fine. Otherwise, meh, imo.
