Identifying and Exploiting Tilt Identifying and Exploiting Tilt

Sup 2+2

In this thread you can share some classic (but generic) tilt scenarios. These are situations or outcomes that make other players tilt. Stories are cool but I'm trying to make this thread instructive. If you like you can also describe a situation where you could put your knowledge of your opponent's tilt to good use.

The first example that comes to mind:

A player loses a hand at showdown, where he valued his hand a lot. He may have had pockets aces and lost to a set after stacking off on the flop. Maybe a bad beat. He cries about it. He rebuys for 15-30bb (short).

He is visibly flustered.

He shoves in the next couple of hands, possibly 3 betting a preflop raise.

In this case I think you can call/isolate a lot wider than usual. Depending on your read on the villain Ace high or 55+ may be good here.

I get the impression that live donks are comfortable tilt-shoving 15-30bb over and over again, but won't shove 100bb. Perhaps "$300 is a lot of money". I'm not fussed with stacking off pre, but I don't think villains shove 100bb with air enough to widen my calling range by much.

Winners tilt. Learn to recognize it. It's the best kind to exploit because they're winners. They have all the chips.

Well that's an interesting one. I've heard of two kinds. I'm wondering which one you mean.

There's the tall stack who feels invincible after running well and devalues his chips because he has so many. I'm guessing he would get spewy and play in marginal spots he wouldn't otherwise play in.

Then there's the guy who doesn't want to lose his 300bb stack and starts playing weak-tight. He's committed to the idea of maintaining his stack right now, rather than winning in the long run.

Sorry, we aren't going to have a containment thread for exploiting tilt. It's going to end up being a "so this one guy was on tilt and I stacked him with AA" thread.
