1/3 NLHE 9 handed.

Just moved to a new table and I don't know a single person at this table but it seems like your typical loose passive game at first glance.

V - Some MAWG I've never seen and know nothing about. 525$. BTN.

I cover the 550 from HJ.

---

V straddles BTN 6, folds to UTG who limps, folds to H in HJ who makes it 25 with A Q, CO calls, V calls, limper calls. 4 ways 2nd to act.

Flop 100 - A J 6

UTG x, I x, CO x, V bets 50, UTG folds, I x/r to 125, CO folds, BTN tanks for 30 seconds and calls.

Turn 350 - T

Hero? V has about a PSB behind.

We should bet less often for smaller amounts in multiway pots ... Also x/r more when we have draws, and there are almost no draws here.
I think this is okay HU, and borderline 3 way ... 4 ways feels like FPS and you are always getting owned by 66/AJ or getting folds when you are way ahead of A7s.

AP I guess shove turn and pray he has AXhh and not AT or better.
Wouldn't mind checking if we had any idea what to do vs. bets.

Yea XR with this hand makes no sense unless you have a really good reason like if you knew this guy never folds to a XR and hes going to stack off with weak top pairs.

As played now we're in a bad spot. I guess check and hope to get to show down cheaply and hope he has some weakish ace that wants to do the same. Thats why XR is bad w this hand, we are too strong to fold and too weak to play a huge pot. Now we have to guess if this guy is the type to overvalue a weaker ace or if he ever going to bluff us?

I think you’ve learned why your check-raising range should consist of either really strong hands or really weak hands.

I don't like it. We got lucky here.

Seems like only a month ago you were on a downswing and admittedly playing bad, trying to force the action with brute aggression. Now you appear to be on an upswing, but still making the same dubious and overly aggro plays that just happen to work out sometimes.

The good results are likely just variance working in your favor now. But I think you'd benefit from just playing a more fundamentally sound game, and only making these big deviations when you have strong reads to support them.

Checkraise with a big hand, a big draw, or a bluff.

I overlimp preflop but I need very specific conditions to raise in the HJ (Button straddle AND I can raise to an amount that sets me up for comfortable commitment with TP postflop). But that's just my style.

SPR is an awkward 5 and multiway. Very few players are going to get in $500+ with a worse TP against most others in my 1/3 NL game (although obviously I'm at the very opposite end of the spectrum compared to people who possibly could get payed off). So I'm actually fine with a pot controlling flop check, and then simply play very cautiously afterwards (probably paying off a safe small bet on the turn and eventually folding the river on a poor runout / continued bets). Check/raising seems like massively overplaying our hand (albeit in a non-large SPR) on a drawless board at that.

Might be the nut low turn card. I'd probably attempt to not put any more money in this pot unless I bink a straight for free.
