What does game selection mean to you and what do you look for
Being in vegas one thing I look for in selecting a game is that cocky hometown hero looking guy, you know the guy that is the semi-aggro in his super passive home game, but his buddies act like hes Tom Dwan. I also look for drunken tourist and obnoxious foreingers(nothing against foreingers) but you've seen them they act a fool because their from a more enlighten country and dont have to respect anyone or anything outside of thier own country.

But as you can see there isnt much depth in my game selection process and im sure im passing games that I preceive as bad, but are actualy good due to a few pieces of information i am bypassing

What do you guys look for in selecting a live game

With or w/o knowing regs my #1 lookout is stack sizes. I want to play at the deepest table of my game, whether 1/2, 2/5, 5/10 etc I want the deepest table.

If you know the player pool, you would wanna look for what you perceive the softest lineup is for your playing style.

If you don't know the player pool and all the tables are the exact chip stack depth, I guess you could go on pre conceived notions of playing styles, ie; older NITS, younger LAGS etc and try and get into the best table that meets your style

I usually go for the tables with the most asian/middle eastern guys in their 30-50s..

That has been a sure receipe for success so far in my local game selection(In live in Sweden and not interested in playing against Isildurs younger cousins in their early 20s that's sitting 500bb deep playing a good LAG style in a 2/5 game).

This is over generalizing, but I don't know the player pool that well yet, so I have to base it on something.

1) Deep stacks

2) Drinks on the table

3) Lots of talking, laughing, etc.

Money. Asians (lol I know but hey). Avoid young 25-30 yr old guys.

No shame in hopping from table to table either. After 20min I believe we can figure out if the game has a chance at being the best in the room. If it sucks onto the next one.

So for low stakes cash game I want to see 4+ people seeing the flop, not very much 3 betting and people calling with not that many raises after the flop. Tables like that are ATM machines.

I like limpers. Especially limp callers. Even more so limp/caller/fit or folders.

Other than that I'm very entertained that I matched exactly two of the player types you described above when I was in Vegas. Also I got smashed for 2k never playing above 1/3 in big bet games.

Maybe I have some thinking to do about important issues.

I would look for the kind of player who would create a thread on a strategy forum for a question that has been asked multiple times before, instead of searching.

Deep tables, lots of socialising, not many young Asians

I want the table with the highest percentage of hands that go to showdown.
