Former poker pro, predominantly live, some online background.

Background:
Live NLHE pro for 5 years+ playing $5/10 - $25/50 up until around 2015. Switched to PLO full time for a few years thereafter, same stakes.

I haven't played "professionally" in about 5 years and i'm aware the game is forever changing. Recently I got the opportunity to play in some very big juicy games where there may be 2 pros, 2 whales, and thinking fish.

My question is - given my background - how would you prepare to shake the rust?

Is there any solid content or courses out there geared to Live NLHE? I do not care to work with PIO or take an extensive GTO course. My goal is to get the juices flowing and see what the trends are these days. Used to be extremely confident in my game and felt like I knew where everyone was at - definitely not the case anymore.

Fwiw I'm aware of most big streams but looking for something a little more.

You could check out Upswing Poker and Crush Live Poker. Upswing has some good YouTube tutorial videos. CLP has a ton of good YouTube content.

I think Jonathan Little's content is probably theoretically sound, but something about that guy's voice makes it impossible for me to watch his videos.

I watch a lot of vloggers, mostly Andrew Neeme, Rampage, Jaman Burton, Mariano, Lex O, Gary Blackwood, and Brad Owens. I think for the purposes of understanding the logic behind the lines being taken, Gary Blackwood and Brad Owens (his more recent content) are among the best. Rampage, Mariano, and Lex O all deserve honorable mention.

Maybe play some lower-stakes live games in some local card rooms, assuming there are any that are close enough. From what I've seen on a lot of streams and in those vlogs, bigger games aren't necessarily harder.

FYI, Studying with solvers had come a long way. GTO Wizard has just about every heads up postflop spot NLHE solved and available for study. You can look at reports showing you what the strategy looks like on every single possible flop and turn in a big aggregate report (what size you bet with what range on every turn and flop all on one report). And you can drill into every possible spot preflop, flop, turn, or river. You can also practice any spot, any position, many different stack depths against a GTO bot. So instead of running solves in a bunch if different spots, it is much faster to study nowadays. Well worth the subscription. This is coming from a live pro who plays stakes up to 10/25/50.

There are similar products for PLO. PLO Mastermind comes to mind.

Not saying you have to go thus route, but I think solvers as an efficient learning tool have become far more accessible.

I'd start by just palying. If you have enough money to play high stakes Omaha shouldn't' you be chilling on a beach somewhere instead?
