Here is a hand I played tonight at Maryland Live $1/$2 NL. Villain 1 is an african american woman who has been playing very quietly and passively, not really making any bets or raises. Villain 2 is maybe late 20's early 30's, new to the table and I have zero read.

Villain 1 raises to $25 after a limper, Villain 2 calls, I consider folding but decide to call with A-Q offsuit since I have position and think Villain 1 will probably play transparently after the flop, everyone else folds. Flop is A, 3, 5 rainbow, Villain 1 checks, Villain 2 bets $25, I call, Villain 1 folds. Turn is a 5 putting two diamonds on board, he bets $50, I call. The way he is handling his chips he seems either to be drunk (he appears to have come to the table with a drink) or clueless or both. At one point the dealer asks him a question and he doesn't even answer, which leads me to think he's drunk. River is a jack that completes the backdoor flush (but the ace of diamonds is on board, so he can't be holding A-x of diamonds), he string bets what looks like $100 but the dealer only lets him bet $80, and his hand seems to be shaking. Maybe he has a monster, or maybe he's on drugs? In any case, call or fold?

I would fold pre. If villain is rarely raising and then raises huge, AQ is a massive reverse implied odds hand.

As played calling down is fine, keeps all the dominated aces in. River is a call because we're getting good odds and he can have worse aces. J is a bad river and we lose to AJ/AK/better sometimes, but readless I assume villain can shove up with A9s or such.

Fold pre. V1 had KK. V2 probably has AK or better but if he's drunk I'm calling.

Welcome to 2+2!

You left a couple important pieces of information out of your OP (stack sizes and positions.) Also, the hand is a bit difficult to read in paragraph form. Here's a template for what a clear, concise hand history looks like: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/17...mplate-770217/

As far as the hand goes, I agree with the above comments about the preflop play.

As played, calling down or raising/getting it in on the turn are both fine against a drunk/incoherent (hard to say without knowing his stack size)
