Flop trip, what's the best way to get stacks in? Flop trip, what's the best way to get stacks in?

Playing at a loose passive (at least preflop) $1/$2 table. Hero bought in for 50bb (as i am apt to do nowadays, abc poker with no tough decisions and has built a $400 stack. Exactly one-hand before hero has shown a huge all-in bluff in a multi-way pot to double-up (4-card flush on river) because hero had a tighter-than-a-clam image and was getting no action.
Villain has been a nice, chatty 43 yr old gentlemen seated to hero's right. From what i have seen in the 2hrs at the table he seems to play a wide-range if the pot has many limpers, yet tightens up if there is a raise. A few hands before ive seen him make a disciplined laydown of a set on a super-wet flop in a multiway pot.

Start of hand, effective stacks are $475.

Villain is utg+1 and raises to $5. From my observation of his bet-sizing, villain consistently puts out a teaser-raise of about 2.5bb in EP to induce a 3b. At this point i put his range on JJ+, AK, AKs

Hero calls with 56 3 other callers, blinds come along.

Flop: 866 (pot: $30)

Checked to villain who bets $30. Hero raises to $75. Folded to villain who tanks, shooting me speculative glances, and calls.

Turn: 7 (pot: $180)

A very sexy turn-card for me. Villain checks.

What is the best line for me to take to get our stacks in the middle?

120 on the turn. River is about a 2/3 PSB shove--hope for a river that does not give you a flush/straight if you really put him on an overpair

Are we in position here and villain checked to us on the turn?

Nevermind I missed that we were checked to. We obviously have to bet here. Looks like based on you initial read that v has a big hand and his call if a c/r on flop, we need to bet enough to get an over pair to come along.

No it couldn't have. Is he realistically calling a raise from a nit with AcKc? No....he's folding all but big overpairs. 77 doesn't count as a big overpair.

You said yourself that you're a tight nit....so your range is 6x, 88 only.

You have to bet....but don't bet much. Bet about the same as you did on the flop to look like maybe you have an overpair. Bet 75ish

You people seem to forget...there's no rule that says you have to get a whole stack, especially 200bb deep. Get what you can. The tiny raise preflop means any action later is good.

just keep value betting. he might fold to an early shove so just keep betting the pot and hell call you down so he can have a BadBeat story for his friends later on.

I would raise the flop bigger to maybe $90, not because of this pot alone, but for future bluffs as well. Taking down pots against a pre-flop raiser on a paired board is something I do often, and playing flopped trips strong is good for balancing my bluffs.

I bet 60. It looks weak (A-8ish) and most 1/2 players do it all the time when they're "protecting their hand". He will be calling 60 into 240 and if he really has an over pair like you think, it's an easy call for him. I get it in on the river with a little more than a PSB. I know I will get a lot of flak for my thinking but live 1/2 is A LOT less of a leveling war than online 1-2. Very rarely can you run multi-street bluffs and expect to profit at this level. With the last hand in mind, the small overbet on the river looks like you're trying to steal the pot and you'll get paid off often.

Flush obv, but why would a straight card be bad...is 1010 part of villain's range here??

It's not about villain possibly making a better flush/straight, it's about these cards killing our action. (Read what you're quoting: we're putting villain on an overpair, so the over-flush is not in the cards.) Villain is going to be scared off if the board is 4 to a straight.

I fold preflop. We've got far too many people behind us plus will have rather horrible relative position on the flop if we hit a draw. If we were LP after some callers I'd probably call.

I'd just size my turn bet so that it doesn't take a ******o overbet to shove the river. For example, if we bet ~$120, that would make the pot $420 and villain would have $275 left, so a reasonable shove.
